I spent fifty bucks on a marble fun run for Kingsley, and it’s the best ROI I’ve seen all year. As a marketer, I live in the world of consumption. I care about what’s being consumed and how fast it’s hitting the brain. But as a dad? I’m terrified that my son’s best friend is going to be an AI chatbot. Shanice and I have been hyper-intentional about designing his day to compete with cheap dopamine. • No TV for the first three hours of the day. It’s dogs, backyard, and movement. • If the TV is on, it’s videos like marble runs. Absolutely no high-speed edits. We’re already planning more time abroad as a family. When Kingsley hits four or five, we’re moving to Spain for months at a time so he can do preschool in a different language. I didn't have the luxury of travel growing up. We were low-middle income. “Vacation" wasn't a priority. But I want Kingsley to realize that "home" is a feeling, not a zip code, and that the world sounds like a lot of different people with a lot of different accents.

Young adults can’t even save for a down payment. A 50 year mortgage doesn’t fix that. We need: 1) rental apt prices to decline 2) real wages for Americans to increase. Deport 30 million illegals and you solve both issues. As a side benefit, tons of other issues also get fixed in our society.

I constantly get asked “do I have enough cash on hand?” “3–6 months of expenses” is not a strategy. That advice is built for personal finance, not for a business with seasonality, debt, or payroll volatility. Here is how we help owners build a reserve that actually reflects their business: Start by calculating your monthly burn. Use one of these baselines: 1. Payroll only: For catastrophic scenarios 2. Barebones + debt service + payroll: For navigating downturns Once you have your burn, adjust for: - Stage of business - Customer & supplier risks - Seasonality & debt This gives formula is a starting point, but this number doesn’t mean “cash in the bank.” Depending on the business, this could mean “cash available.” IE. debt you can pull on. The goal of this system is to: 1. Make your business more resilient 2. Help you sleep better at night It’s a lot better than a gut feeling.
