This week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (11–13 May 2026), country delegations are meeting to share experiences, exchange lessons, and work through the real challenges of implementation. At the Peer Learning Workshop on CAADP Kampala Implementation, countries are identifying the bottlenecks slowing progress, aligning national policies with the CAADP Kampala Declaration, and taking steps that will show results on the ground. A this workshop AUDA-NEPAD is supporting countries to walk away with clear 12-month action roadmaps, grounded in their own priorities and milestones. Cross-country peer support and thematic clusters will keep the momentum going long after this week. The Kampala Declaration set out a shared vision. Today, I led farmers’ engagement and empowerment programme across Bomet, Nakuru, Bungoma, and Baringo Counties, where we distributed coffee, tea, and avocado seedlings. This initiative was not only about providing planting materials but also about strengthening livelihoods, promoting sustainability, and creating pathways to economic independence. Through these engagements, farmers were encouraged to embrace diversification and resilience, ensuring that agriculture remains a pillar of prosperity in our communities. The warm reception and active participation across the counties reaffirmed our shared vision of growth, empowerment, and transformation. Together, we are planting seeds of hope and progress — nurturing opportunities that will uplift households, drive development, and secure a brighter future for generations to come. This morning, I officially presided over the curtain raiser for the 12th Agritec Africa @Agritec_Africa -an international exhibition and conference that showcases cutting-edge agricultural technologies reshaping the sector across the continent. The forum highlights Africa’s dynamic transition from traditional farming to smart, technology-driven agriculture. It brings to the forefront innovations such as precision farming, data-informed decision-making, advanced irrigation and water management systems, smart farming tools, and strengthened agro-processing and value chains. It also underscores the adoption of energy-efficient technologies that reduce production costs in vital value chains like tea, driving sustainability while enhancing farmer profitability across Africa.
