The hatch is closed now on Orion spacecraft. The outside world has gone quiet for them. Inside, the astronauts of Artemis II are no longer moving around. They are on their backs in their seats, suited, strapped in, facing upward toward space. The cabin lights are steady. Screens glow softly. Every sound matters. The commander sits at the center of responsibility. Eyes forward, scanning displays, listening closely to every call from the ground. The pilot is watching systems, ready to respond if anything drifts even slightly out of tolerance. The two mission specialists are not passive. They are running checklists, verifying switches, confirming that what the computers say is true. This is not Apollo. It is not rows of switches and cramped desperation. This is modern, digital, quieter in its design. But it is still tight. Still close. Four people, shoulder to shoulder, each movement limited, each breath measured. They are breathing oxygen through their suits. Communications are constant but controlled. No wasted words. And yes, even now, the human reality is there. They are wearing what NASA calls the Maximum Absorbency Garment. That is the official name. Because once you are strapped in, you do not get up. Not for anything. Not for hours if needed. Hydration matters before launch, so they have taken in fluids. And so the system is simple. The body does what it must, and the mission continues. This is part of the discipline. The humility of it. Time begins to compress now. Calls from the ground become more frequent. Final polls. Systems checks. Weather confirmations. That 80 percent go is still only about the sky, but inside the vehicle, everything is already decided. They are ready. And in that small, controlled space, with the Earth just outside and the unknown ahead, they wait for the moment when everything changes.

4 people are in there with hopes, dreams, risk and the unknown. It makes me breathless, knowing how they're feeling and what they're facing. In an interesting statement to press outside of the White House earlier, U.S. President Donald J. Trump said that a “friendly takeover of Cuba” is a possibility. Without elaborating on the actual logistics of such a takeover, the president repeated his statement and added that it would be great for Cubans who greatly want to return to their country but can’t due to the current geopolitical dynamic between the U.S. and Cuba’s ruling regime.

Spectacular eruption accompanied the X1.9 flare. Its shock wave set off a nearby filament and even triggered a behind the limb eruption. Dimming spread across the geoeffective zone. This region enters Earth-facing view next week and needs close monitoring.
