@zhiheather @ShamashAran So just to be clear, elon and his primary shareholders never see a dime? Theyre all working second jobs to pay the rent and lining up at soup kitchens or whatever? No assets they could sell off to keep clothes on their backs?

@Astronomnomicon @ShamashAran It's not in his pocket. It's in the company. Paying their salaries. Buying the rocket fuel. All the tools and the equipment and the computers and the buildings. Paying the light bill. Buying the metal and ceramics and circuit boards. The company *is* that money.

@rah_66_comanche If a 5% tax is too much maybe Elon needs to cut expenses by not going to Starbucks and paying for a Netflix subscription

@FreeTalkLive Yup. Governments and their capitalist rulers are all trash. Just let the workers keep their wealth.

The same people who can bankrupt businesses, destroy jobs, and regulate entire industries into the ground somehow expect us to believe they can centrally manage wealth better than the people who created it in the first place. Someone creates companies, products, jobs, industries, rockets, satellites, payment systems, and electric vehicles used by millions of people, and her response is "he has more than me, take it." No discussion of incentives. No discussion of capital formation. No discussion of what happens when governments start taxing unrealized wealth. No curiosity about the consequences. Just the eternal politics of "gimme." Economic illiteracy wrapped in moral self-righteousness remains economic illiteracy. Every time.
Elizabeth Warren@SenWarren

Elon Musk just became the world's first trillionaire. The typical American household would have to work more than 11 MILLION years to make Elon Musk's level of wealth. We need a wealth tax.

The animosity towards Elon Musk for becoming a trillionaire is not about caring for the poor. It's about hating the rich, hating those with more success than you, being jealous of others and miserable over your face own life, and not being content with what you have.

@zhiheather @ShamashAran Also I love the "they took the risk" propaganda line. Like what risk, bro? Only being able to afford 1000 mansions instead of 2000?

@Astronomnomicon @ShamashAran Stole? He hired them at a wage they found entirely acceptable. He provided the capital and took all the risk. Many others have tried and failed. That's how business works. That's what creates innovation. The possible reward being worth the risk.

@Astronomnomicon @MiddleRights @grok You probably never even paid 70 cents in tax. You just want hardworking people who earn a decent living to be taxed into oblivion so you won’t have to work a day in your life while living of welfare.

Elon achieving 1 tril networth really brought out the retards that lack even a 9th grade level understanding of economics, wealth creation, the concept of net worth compared to liquidity, much more. It’s fucking hilarious lmao

@zhiheather @ShamashAran "~3% of elons employees have lucked into getting 0.0001% as much wealth as he stole from them" is a hilariously braindead take. How much capitalist propaganda have you been huffing my dude?

@Astronomnomicon @ShamashAran Tell that to the 4,000 new millionaires who just got their cut, including the janitor. Elon doesn't have a pool of money he swims in like Scrooge McDuck. That money IS the company. That money IS their jobs. Good jobs. Making awesome things.

@piratefourhire Trying to rebrand mass wage theft as somehow beneficial to the victims is certainly a take

Even better? Because pretty much all of his wealth is illiquid capital in the various companies he has founded or bought that wealth will continue to grow and benefit more people than you will meet in two lifetimes. Until you have a deeper understanding of economics....
Westie@MrProWestie

Elon Musk becomes the world’s first trillionaire. If he spent $1M everyday, it’d take him over 2000 years to spend it all. That much wealth attributed to one person is ridiculous.

@ChristianHeiens She doesn’t think that. She misleads a stupid public. She wants government to have control over the industrialists and that can’t happen if they are independently wealthy.
