@ajayrotti Customs officers hold shipments asking for documents that are irrelevant. The rules are so ambiguous that it is upto the officer’s interpretation entirely. It’s a bribe or risk a 2 month long battle of going to hearings. Ease of doing business in india is a joke.

The problem with Social media. While there is the so called Godi media.... there is media which is in the other Godi. Stories like this are lapped up.... PM, FM tagged and run down without any verification. Over 2 decades in taxation.... no business closes for Customs issues for 45 days! That is a red flag. Not talking legal remedies is the biggest red flag here.... Bigger than the flags in airports!!!! These issues arent solved on Twitter.... they are solved in courts if the importer is "legally right". These Twitter programs are generally the threat to officers. "See what I can do" ... "See how I will teach you a lesson types".... If any officer really harasses you like this... Use legal remedies. That is the ONLY way. I had called this out much before more details have come out. The issues is misclassification and the importer says "it is just 2.5%". I really hope the media does a better job before lapping up these stories. Talk to experts... inconsistencies can be know in minutes. If there are no... carry the story. Pin the officers down and dont let them go until action is taken. But dont get there without basic checks!!!

Story at the Sahar cargo is also same. I import engineering instruments and sensors. Face this every week. Officers never give explanations on paper. Ask for bribes rampantly. Customs reforms is long overdue which @BJP4India has failed to implement. @wintrackinc #CORRUPTION
