Man Under Multiple Court-Ordered Firearm Prohibitions Charged After Allegedly Shooting at Peel Officer A 24-year-old man who was subject to multiple court-ordered firearm prohibitions is facing charges after allegedly firing a handgun at a Peel Regional Police officer during a foot pursuit in Mississauga. According to Peel Regional Police, members of the Strategic and Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Torbram Road on Sunday, June 21, when officers observed a suspicious man fleeing a nearby establishment. Investigators say the man was wearing a mask around his chin and was seen jumping multiple fences. A short time later, an officer located the suspect walking southbound on Torbram Road and attempted to speak with him. Police allege the suspect fled on foot and, during the ensuing chase, turned and discharged a firearm multiple times at the pursuing officer. The shots missed and the officer was not struck. Additional officers quickly responded and took the suspect into custody. The man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being released into police custody. Two officers suffered minor injuries during the incident and were assessed at the scene. Police arrested Isaiah Bachoo, 24, of Brampton, He has been charged with: -Discharging a Firearm with Intent -Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted According to police, Bachoo was subject to multiple firearms prohibitions stemming from previous firearm-related convictions in Thunder Bay in 2023. The court orders included a lifetime prohibition on possessing prohibited or restricted firearms, prohibited devices and ammunition, as well as a 10-year prohibition on possessing any firearm. The latest allegations are not the first time Bachoo's name has appeared in firearm-related police investigations. In September 2021, Peel Regional Police sought Bachoo in connection with a shooting at a residence near Ardglen Drive and Wilton Drive in Brampton. Investigators alleged a firearm was discharged inside the home, leaving a 20-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries. Police at the time warned the public that Bachoo was considered armed and dangerous and issued a warrant for his arrest. Several months later, in January 2022, Bachoo was among four people arrested as part of a Thunder Bay Police human trafficking investigation. The investigation led to the seizure of a loaded handgun and suspected fentanyl and resulted in numerous charges against the accused, including firearm-related offences. Police allege that despite the court-ordered firearm prohibitions imposed following his subsequent convictions, Bachoo was once again in possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm when he allegedly fired at an officer on Sunday.
