I spent months building an ASO tool that indie devs can actually afford. Most ASO tools charge $65 to $2,000+/mo. I built @applyra for $9.99/mo. With a free plan. Here's what it does and why I built it 🧵

@m0k13_ Beautiful concept. Day 1 tip: the "sobriety tracker" keyword space is competitive but there are tons of long-tail terms people actually search for. Nailing those early makes a huge difference. I track this kind of data at applyra.io, congrats on shipping!

🔥 Ashrise just launched on the App Store. A sobriety tracker where your recovery grows a living phoenix. Stay consistent — it evolves. Disappear — it weakens. Return — it heals with you.

@ShelvesReader Love the angle, making reading social is a smart differentiator. One tip: Play Store search is huge for book apps. Make sure you're targeting keywords like "book club app" and "social reading" early. I built @applyra to track this kind of stuff. Good luck!

I’m a 26-year-old indie developer from Madrid. I just launched an Android ebook reader built specifically for book clubs. Most reading apps are solo. I’m trying to make reading social. Let’s see where this goes 📚🚀 play store link: play.google.com/store/apps/det…

@crystal_kishore 79% organic with $0 budget is a strong signal. Next step: find which keywords drive those downloads, then target related ones you're missing. You can try applyra.io for this. Happy to run a quick audit on SNUB if you want!

2 weeks into launching SNUB - Anonymous location based confession app • 44 iOS downloads • 4.16% App Store conversion • 79% from organic search Zero marketing budget so far. Taking any advice on scaling from here 👇 #BuildInPublic #IndieHackers #SoloFounder #StartupLife

@mahdibeee That's actually great news, search means your keywords work. Now the question is: which keywords? Most devs never find out. I track this daily with @applyra

The early App Store data is coming in: • +1K impressions • 36 product page views • 16 downloads • 1.89% conversion rate • $2 revenue Nothing crazy yet. Page → install conversion is good. Next experiments: test a better first screenshot #BuildInPublic

@sanderbuilds And it compounds. A keyword you rank for today keeps bringing users in 6 months later. TikTok doesn't do that. The trick is finding the low-difficulty/decent-traffic ones that you can actually win (I use @applyra to do this).

People sleep on App Store Optimization because it's not sexy. But ASO is just free users showing up every day without you doing anything. One good keyword ranking can be worth more than a month of TikTok content. Sexiest unsexy lever in indie apps.

Day 15 after launching my App: 5 App Store impressions
3 product page views
0 downloads
0% conversion rate Still very early. Traffic dropped this week, but using this phase to refine positioning and improve first impressions. #buildinpublic #liftally #indiedev

@tikki_mann Congrats! Ran a quick ASO audit on your app: visibility score is 18/100 (not bad for a new app). You rank #1 for "warehouse madness" but miss all traffic on "logistics simulator", "business tycoon" etc. Full audit 👉 applyra.io/audit/iTK/ware…

@bunbeau Spot on. Knowing vs doing is the gap. The ones who track weekly and iterate are the ones who climb. That's what @applyra is built for: daily updates, AI suggestions, no excuses.

This is why most indie hackers fail: Top 10 ASO keywords analysis → 1000s of views Actually optimizing your app store page → maybe 50 do it Still doing ASO 6 months later → 5 people Only 0.5% make it to the end. Sometimes just showing up every day is enough.

I have multiple apps on the App Store and Play Store. I still don't have a good ASO workflow. Every launch I'm Googling the same things, second-guessing keywords, staring at screenshots. Do experienced indie devs have this figured out, or are we all winging it?

@anhphong_dev @tskulbru Managing 7 apps in ASC is genuinely painful, you feel this. With @applyra the AI part is specifically for ASO: it analyzes your current metadata vs competitors and tells you exactly which keywords to add, move to the title, or drop: per app, per locale.

this is so needed. i maintain 7 apps on app store and every metadata update in asc feels like a chore - the web ui is painfully slow especially for screenshots and localization. curious about the llm/ai part - auto-generated keywords? description optimization? or something like competitor analysis for aso? that alone would make it worth it for indie devs who hate the aso guesswork

Building Njord — a native macOS App Store Connect client. Tired of the ASC web UI being slow and clunky. Tired of Fastlane being CLI-only. And I wanted to use LLM/AI to optimize listings #BuildingInPublic #indiedev #macos #apple #SwiftUI

@shahediqb I built @applyra exactly for this. Keyword tracking across App Store + Play Store, competitor analysis, and AI-powered suggestions: all for $9.99/mo (free plan available). I was frustrated paying $65–$2K/mo for tools as an indie dev myself. So I built the affordable version.

I've audited 200+ indie apps. Same mistakes every time: → Keywords with 80+ difficulty they'll never rank for → Wasting title/subtitle on generic words → No clue which keywords drive downloads Example audit: applyra.io/audit/6iC/beto… Drop your app url, I'll run one for free.

I wrote the ASO guide I wish I had when I started. Keyword research, metadata optimization, screenshots that convert, localization hacks, A/B testing: everything an indie dev needs to get discovered on the App Store & Google Play. Free, no paywall. 🧵👇

Most indie devs pick keywords by gut feeling. I tracked 100+ keywords for my app, the "obvious" ones had 80+ difficulty. I was invisible. Switched to mid-difficulty keywords. Went from unranked to #5 in 3 months. Zero ads. Stop chasing popular keywords. Find the ones you can win.
