Big congratulations to @austal Australia’s Mitchell Dick on being named WA's National Finalist for the Marine Industry Apprentice of the Year Award at the 2026 Australian Marine Industry Awards - presented by @AusMarineExport Group. As a National Finalist, Mitchell will be recognised on stage at the Awards' Gala Dinner on 19 May 2026, on the Gold Coast, where he’ll celebrate alongside marine industry leaders from across Australia. The overall winner will be announced on the night and go on to represent Australia at Metstrade in Amsterdam (17–19 November 2026) — the world’s largest marine equipment trade show. On 25 April, ANZAC Day, we honour the courage, sacrifice, resilience and mateship of all who have served, and continue to serve, in our armed forces in the defence of our nation’s peace, security and freedom. It is a time to reflect, to remember, and to reaffirm our commitment to supporting veterans and ensuring the sacrifices of our servicemen and women are never forgotten. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Today, @austal teams in Australia came together for an all-hands meeting that included a celebration of the completion of the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project (SEA3036-1) - following the delivery of the 24th and final Guardian-class Patrol Boat (GCPB) to @DefenceAust on 17th April 2026. The vessel was gifted to the Republic of Maldives under the Australian Government's Defence Cooperation Program, at a handover ceremony held at HMAS Stirling, Western Australia on 19th April 2026. Austal Limited Chief Executive Officer, Paddy Gregg said the milestone represents a proud achievement for the company, and Australia’s sovereign shipbuilding industry. “The delivery of this final Guardian-class Patrol Boat marks the successful completion of the acquisition phase of the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project (SEA3036-1) by Austal, for the Commonwealth of Australia. “Austal is proud to have constructed all 24 steel-hulled vessels from our Henderson shipyard, supporting local jobs and demonstrating Australia’s world-class naval shipbuilding capability. “We are honoured to contribute to Australia’s long-standing partnerships with regional nations, including the Republic of the Maldives, and to support greater security and stability across the Indo-Pacific. Designed and constructed by Austal in Henderson, Western Australia, the Guardian-class Patrol Boats form a key component of the Australian Government’s Pacific Maritime Security Program and Defence Cooperation Program, supporting regional partners to enhance maritime security, sovereignty and resilience. The steel hull Guardian-class Patrol Boats are 39.5 metres in length, capable of speeds in excess of 20 knots, and designed for extended regional security operations in challenging maritime environments. With all vessels now delivered, we remain committed to supporting the sustainment and ongoing capability of the Guardian-class fleet through our in-service support teams, programs and facilities located in Henderson, Cairns, Brisbane and Darwin. Take a look back at Austal's first steel naval shipbuilding project, which has seen 24 patrol boats delivered to 13 nations in 10 years, in the video below. #defence #defenceindustry #pacificpatrolboatreplacementproject #guardian #patrolboats #pacificislands #maldives #australian #sovereign #shipbuilding #capability #sustainment

DeltaPearl Partners’ latest report reinforces what those of us in Australian shipbuilding and defence industry have long understood: procurement choices matter—not just for capability, but for Australia’s long-term strategic resilience. The analysis shows that shifting even a small portion of Defence spending—5% of imports and 10% of domestic Defence expenditure—towards genuinely sovereign primes could unlock up to $8.2 billion in annual GDP and create more than 43,000 highly skilled Australian jobs. All without increasing the Defence budget. For companies like @austal, this is exactly why sovereign capability cannot be an afterthought. When work is delivered in Australia, it keeps IP, skills, tax revenue, decision-making and critical industrial capacity here—where they’re needed in times of strategic uncertainty. The report’s recommendations, strongly backed by the Sovereign Australian Prime Alliance (SAPA) group, offer a practical path forward: • Redefine “value for money” to recognise national benefit • Embed a Sovereign Dividend Scorecard • Strengthen the definition of an Australian business • Equip procurement teams to understand the true value of sovereign capability As a proud Australian Prime, and member of the SAPA group, Austal welcomes this conversation. Building, sustaining and exporting Australian capability isn’t just good policy—it strengthens the nation from within. At @Austal, we’re proud to see talented young Western Australians like Emily Turley leading the way in shaping the state’s defence and shipbuilding future. Emily, a first-year cabinetmaker apprentice, is part of the team constructing Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats for the Royal @Australian_Navy and @AusBorderForce in Henderson – contributing to a proud legacy of world-class shipbuilding, right here in Western Australia. “It’s really fun on the water and very busy. I didn’t know a ship could have so many levels – you almost lose each other,” Emily told the @FinancialReview in an article highlighting the Committee for Perth ’s 2050 Summit held this week. Emily represents the next generation of Western Australia’s maritime workforce – skilled, ambitious, and passionate about defence innovation. Her work is helping build not just ships, but a stronger, more sustainable future for the state’s economy and its people. Austal is proud to be Australia’s strategic shipbuilder, supporting the growth of a sovereign defence industry and creating opportunities for the next generation of shipbuilders, engineers, and innovators. @Austal Limited has executed a US$100 million loan agreement with @ExportFinanceAU , the Australian Government ’s export credit agency, to partially fund the development of the Final Assembly 2 (FA2) project at the @Austal_USA shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. The EFA loan, with a tenor of 10 years, reflects not only a successful diversity of funding sources secured by Austal, but also the security of the long-term order book of naval ships to be built in this new facility - commencing with up to eleven Offshore Patrol Cutters for the @uscoastguard and up to seven Ocean Surveillance (T-AGOS) vessels for the @USNavy . Joined by John Hopkins, Managing Director and CEO of EFA (and his team) at the loan signing in Henderson, Western Australia today, Austal Limited CEO Paddy Gregg said “Securing Australian Government funding for our US infrastructure expansion is a major milestone for Austal, enabling the Company to execute on its $13.1 billion order book. “It also facilitates the shared defence objectives between the Australian and US Governments and validates the relationship that exists between both Governments and Austal, building on the recent Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement signed by Austal and the Australian Government.” Read the full company announcement at investor.austal.com/static-files/4… #Austal #AustalUSA #ExportFinanceAustralia #Shipbuilding #DefenceIndustry #USNavy #USCoastGuard #AUKUS
