As AI czar you not only did nothing to ameliorate the situation when the government targeted an American AI company for its very narrow safety stance, you taunted them publicly on your twitter. A company designated a "supply chain risk" is likely going to defensively impose guardrails on itself to defend against this corrupt admin, that you never spoke out against.

Kimi K3 just fixed 15 critical security bugs that Codex and Fable refused because of “cyber guardrails.” There’s no reason to limit American models on tasks that Chinese models handle without issue. We’re only making ourselves less competitive.

I have a report full of security issues of a software I'm working on. Codex won't fix them because of Cyber guardrails Fable won't fix them because of Cyber guardrails Kimi K3 fixed them all. No restrictions, just gets the job done. This will end badly for OpenAI & Anthropic.

@scaling01 I've seen a number of tweets showing some middling benchmarks now with K3 and there's always a ton of comments making excuses for the model. Nobody would do this for Google, Grok, etc. People *really* *really* want these Chinese models to be better than they really are...

This is concerning. For the first time, a Chinese model Kimi K3 has taken #1 on the Frontend Code Arena and is scoring at or near the frontier on other benchmarks.
Meanwhile America is tying itself in knots: politicians and bureaucrats are banning new data centers, piling on state regulations, and pushing for new federal agencies to pre-approve frontier models.
This is how you lose the AI race. The rest of the world won’t play by our rules if we bog ourselves down. Permissionless innovation is how America won the internet and became the technological envy of the world. We can do it again with AI -- while addressing risks in a targeted way -- or we’ll watch our lead evaporate.

That's not what's happening, though. Being strongest doesn’t mean you can enforce anything cheaply or indefinitely. Iran threatens Hormuz with $20K drones and mines..U.S. interceptors cost millions. Reuters last month had a report that said Iran may produce 10,000 drones a month. Our sustained escorts require major naval resources. This is why Trump is having so much trouble solving this.

- The CCP has held meetings with top Chinese AI labs (including Alibaba, ByteDance and Z.ai) about potentially restricting overseas access to China's most advanced AI models, including both closed and open-source models.
- Under the proposal being discussed, anyone who leaks or steals AI technology might be punishable under China's national security laws.
- This initiative may be a follow-on from a May 2026 roundtable discussion of Chinese legal experts regarding regulation of open-source AI. During this discussion, several experts proposed a three-tier system for Chinese AI models:
1. Low-risk open-source models would be subject to a simple filing or a filing exemption. One expert said models under 10B parameters should fit in this category (but this was just an example shared by one panel member).
2. More advanced AI models would be subject to pre-release safety testing and would need to be reported to a regulator.
3. Models implicating national security, risks to critical infrastructure, cybersecurity concerns, sensitive data considerations, or major public interests would not be open-sourced, or would be open-sourced only within a strictly controllable limited scope, and could be restricted to domestic use.
- Unclear if and when these rules will become effective and whether they will apply to both current and future models.
- Separately, "according to two of the sources, Chinese authorities are deeply worried about the potential for Mythos to exploit software vulnerabilities and that Washington might deploy the model against Chinese interests."

There are at least two reason they might not want to update us on McConnell’s condition: -In Kentucky, a special election to replace a Senator will NOT be called if it’s closer than 3 months till the next election. -That date is August 3rd. 1) If McConnell’s condition is clearly unfit for office, they’d hide that to avoid being forced to submit a resignation letter until after that date. 2) If McConnell has not regained consciousness or has the chance of oxygen induced brain death and is on artificial life support, they would try and -In Kentucky “brain death” is legally considered death under Kentucky Revised Statute § 446.400 -Any two independent physicians may declare the patient dead for the purposes of the seat being vacated IF the patient is only “alive” due to a ventilator and artificial life support systems.
