STARLINK: British Airways has revealed that its first aircraft fitted with Starlink is a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with registration G-ZBJJ. It is currently in flight as BA197 from London Heathrow to Houston, Texas; the first BA commercial flight with Starlink! It departed London around 3:25 p.m. GMT, and should arrive in Houston around 9 p.m. CST. Per British Airways CEO Sean Doyle, "The roll out of Starlink is making excellent progress... This is a complex and highly-skilled upgrade to our fleet, and I want to thank all our teams who are working hard to make this possible. I know our customers will be looking forward to using this service soon." Kudos to BA making the service free for all passengers in every cabin. Starlink is complimentary, gate-to-gate, with no extra charges for streaming, working, or connecting on multiple devices.

@ashtonshudson Impossible. @Our_DA only does the right thing all the time so for sure they have planned and built more water storage capacity

the only insane thing about this is that 8 years ago cape town got a massive warning for the shortfall in water storage. in the 8 years since, we have built literally 0 new dams. it’s not a rainfall problem, this is a planning problem
City of Cape Town@CityofCT

Cape Town's dam levels have dropped to 50.4% due to high water usage and the heatwave. Remember, water is essential only for necessary purposes. Let's work together to save water and delay restrictions. Every drop counts!

Dubai Airport today (18 March)... this is the arrivals immigration line, not exit. Plenty of passengers queuing, luggage everywhere, people from all over still pouring in. Compared to the insane crowds of 2024/early 2025, it’s calmer, but calling it a “ghost town” is way off... the airport is still very much operational and welcoming.

@JSS779 Having flown AI and 6E recently there are almost no seats allocated to FF or for free anyway so that makes very little difference.

Foreign Office warns against travel to/through the UAE. That includes merely changing planes at Dubai or Abu Dhabi airports. Yet thousands of British travellers do just that every day. Emirates and Etihad are selling tickets for flights through their hubs. independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

@vivekrajan1380 @BBCWorld Bruh, the supply is blocked by war? A small country like Sri lanka can't solve shit. All we can do is wait till others increase productions and wait for the war to end or loosen up.

@jamiebsmith @Xking332 Is it 500 people every hour exactly or are the surges during specific hours ?

@Xking332 Yes, missiles struggle to be reused. They’ve been coming for 18 days now so no big change. Any evidence behind any of the random numbers you’ve presented or did you just get little excited with your keyboard?

A new set of missiles have been launched at Dubai and Abu Dhabi. A few people have been injured. A Pakistani national has died. 20000 flights have been cancelled in Dubai. About 500 people are leaving Dubai every single hour. Dubai is losing 600k every day. If this continues for a year, Dubai will no longer be tax free. The tax free economic model is most likely coming to an end.

If I was single and lived in Dubai, this is exactly what I’d be doing, must be some good deals to be had. The difference is, I wouldn’t be bragging and posting about it while service workers are being killed (a Palestinian was killed in the UAE by Iran yesterday).

Today we continue suffering in the alleged war zone of Dubai at Aura Skypool the world’s highest 360° infinity pool. Pretty cool seeing the DXB departures taking off westbound before turning hard left and over the city currently.

@DrAwab This is the right take. No need to sugar coat or defend with lies. A remarkable place under real pressure. An existential threat they seem to be navigating well because they treat people with respect

Say what you want — I'm quite optimistic for Dubai. No sugar-coating: the city is under serious pressure. drones overhead, airspace shut, debris falling. And yet — the streets are calm, shelves are full, no gouging, no panic. The government is talking to its people in real time and showing up when it matters most. This is what decades of institution-building actually looks like. It doesn't crumble at the first sign of trouble — it rises for its people. Yes, some left for personal safety. That's human, not betrayal. But they'll return. Because you simply cannot replicate zero-tax living, world-class infrastructure AND a government that genuinely shows up in a crisis — anywhere else on earth. Real estate values will take a dip, but usually these are just numbers for investors to cash in on the dip and enjoy the windfalls in the future. Smart investors are already circling the opportunities — that's how economies work Crises don't destroy character. They reveal it. Dubai's character? Unshaken. 🇦🇪 (And no — this is not a paid-post or a visa-application. Since someone will definitely ask 🤣/ I only have family and friends living there)
