Today’s ride from AKL to KUL on a @MAS A330-900. Great plane, great airline!

@AvWeekScho Yeah, could've been seats or ASKs. Typically in their guidance they're using ASKs, so would be safe to assume that. But never did they mention, nor do they ever really, the number of flights.

So the real number is a lot less than 5% ... The "experts" said it was 5% over the whole quater, when in fact it's a lot less than that for just 6 weeks, not even the quarter. Not expecting a correction the from the "experts" though!

Yeah, percentage points was wonky (but makes no difference in interpretation from an absolute base). People then quoted that with confidence as a 5% reduction in flights, rather than capacity. As we can see from the OAG filings, outcome is significantly less than that in terms of flights.

This is the new(ish) Air NZ Lookout Lounge at Auckland Airport - it’s essentially a temporary overflow lounge used during the morning and late afternoon/evening peaks. This one and the main lounge will close when the new bigger lounge is completed

Kind of a murky day at Auckland Airport, but Jean says it’s good for flying. Traveling to Sydney with my father to see my aunt

@Nirgal451 They'll just go the other way! FWIW, great circle route from Sydney to London doesn't go anywhere near Qatar.

@tmurphyNZ Only about 2 years of his 20+ year career were spent as Luxon's press sec. Also worth noting that he held important beats at multiple major titles in NZ. In my experience he was a careful, fair and thoroughly professional journo. This is a good choice.

NZME appoints Chris Luxon's former chief press secretary Hamish Rutherford to chair its NZ Herald editorial advisory board. Founding chair Miri Alexander becomes associate editor. The 4-person board also includes Brent Webling who was press sec to 3 other National leaders.
