It covers tokenomics, validator economics, and network security - what we're learning, and what we're doing about it. Each piece builds on the last - not a collection of standalone articles, but a running account of where this work is taking us.

Introducing Economics of Blockchain 🔺 Built on the research agenda we published, this series exists to make the Foundation's economic work public: the findings, the open questions, and the concrete actions they lead to ⤵️

First Team1 Accelerator Grant - YourGrails 🔺 The committee has approved $30,000 for @YourGrails, a tokenized trading card platform bringing real, graded cards onchain to Avalanche An amazing project the community can engage with, built by native builders who show up every day for the community. On Monday we launched the committee. Yesterday we held our first call. Today we have our first grantee. Good business

Real businesses, useful applications, and active users should translate into volume, fees, revenue, stronger network economics, and AVAX value accrual. Many of you have made that case loudly, and yes, we’re listening. The Foundation’s new research agenda does not wave a magic wand or pretend to have every solution today. However, it is a first step toward evaluating fees, MEV, revenue sharing, validator incentives, burns, and other potential mechanisms with actual data. This approach will be much more useful to ensure Avalanche wins long term. The Halicon update is a good first step in a many step process which is underway. Make C-Chain Great Again

The research starts with measurement: quantifying value created onchain or channeled through the chain, so the capture and distribution questions that follow are grounded in actual numbers, not assumptions. The work is already underway.

The Avalanche consensus protocol was designed with formal rigor. The economic layer deserves the same treatment. GCP (Gross Chain Product) gives the Foundation a rigorous, auditable framework for measuring what the ecosystem actually produces. Get the measurement right, and the mechanisms that follow can be designed correctly. This is how you build systems that last. 🔺

The Foundation’s economics research team now has a clear roadmap to execute against. The framework is measure, capture, distribute, so that network activity accrues value to AVAX. The full thinking is in the piece below. The quality and speed of execution will define the outcomes. That's exactly where our focus is 🔺

Our economics research agenda is public as of today. The central problem we're working on: connecting ecosystem output to AVAX value accrual. Value created onchain doesn't route itself to the token securing the network. That takes deliberate design. That’s what we are working towards. Measure → capture → distribute. AVAX Matters 🔺

Network upgrades reveal what a team actually believes about their system. Helicon follows a consistent set of principles. Parallel execution because separating consensus from transaction processing is the correct architectural choice. Staking economics that reward long-term commitment because sustainable validators produce a stable network. These are engineering decisions. The fact that they align with what financial systems require is not a coincidence. Convenience and correctness are often in tension. We chose correctness.

Every time we say "built for business," I think about what it actually requires. It's not faster transactions. That's table stakes now. It's the decisions a network makes when it has to choose between convenient and right. Higher uptime standards. Staking economics that reward long-term commitment over short-term yield. Flexibility for institutional participants who can't lock up capital for two weeks. Helicon is six of those decisions made at once, and is a great starting point for more foundational change to come. This is what a blockchain looks like when it gets serious. Not just faster. It’s more dependable, more professional, more built for the businesses that are here, and the ones that are coming. 🔺

Helicon is a meaningful step forward for Avalanche. Continuous Execution improves throughput and responsiveness, while Dynamic Minimum Gas Price makes fee markets healthier during periods of high demand. Combined with staking improvements, this upgrade makes the network more scalable, more resilient, and better aligned for long-term growth. Great to see Avalanche continuing to evolve 🔺
