Steam DRM is a wrapper around game executables that ensure Steam is running and that the Steamworks API will be available when the game executes. Another function is to ensure the Steam user that launched the game actually owns the game. The other use for Steam DRM is to encrypt the game code to deter tampering or reverse engineering of the game code. Mind you, not all games on Steam use the same DRM and some have additional DRM. Steam most definitely checks your game ownership when you use it in online mode. Offline mode does let you play them indefinitely, for the most part, unless it has additional DRM that requires a check of some type. I would absolutely love to get some developers to comment on this though.

"Nintendo is hated for hypothetical scenarios" -Introduces 80$ games -Locks content/dlc behind amiibos -Raises price of physical games -Increases price of Switch 1 -C button on controller requires a credit card to use -Game Key Cards removing ownership

I hate to involve myself with potential console war stuff because I game and love all 3 consoles. But if we're honest, Nintendo is hated for hypothetical scenarios. Playstation and Xbox actually do what y'all fear Nintendo might do.

Agree or disagree?🚀

Here is my interaction with PlayStation Customer Support asking about the problem. Starts with the AI helper, then I get a human response.

The memes are fucking killing it bro 😆

Valve is “hard at work” on Steam Deck 2, but there’s still no release window. In a recent IGN interview, Valve software engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais confirmed the team is actively developing the next-gen handheld PC and are drawing on lessons from their other hardware projects and already have a clear vision for what Deck 2 should be. Valve is waiting for the right silicon and architectural advances that deliver a major generational performance leap, not just incremental 20-50% gains at similar battery life. Griffais said current SoC options don’t meet their bar yet, for context: -The Original Steam Deck: February 2022 -OLED model: November 2023 I think that most of us are patient, and don’t care to wait for a good upgrade rather than a minor refresh.
