Most perceived bad body odor comes from either racial differences in sweat pheromone makeup (African/South Asian most noticeable) or endotoxin in the gut + rancid oils coming out in sweat. Malays say Chinese smell of pork, it’s actually true because of the decades of consumption building up in the tissues that gets released when we sweat. Increased cumin/fenugreek consumption also drives the classic “Indian” smell, westernised Indians who eat a more western diet and have basic hygiene tend to not have it at all. Sweat also ferments differently on the skin based on the pheromones in it. Mongoloids tend to smell salt and sour, Caucasians slightly sweeter but also not nice, Africans the sweetest but mixed in with goyslop seed oils also isn’t nice. Even among SEA populations sweat is different, Thais have a distinct aroma even without their flowery perfumes. Arabs lean into the strong pheromones with their oud obsessions, and Somalis lie in between Arab and African on the smell scale. Most of chronic BO can be resolved with lots of sauna to sweat out the toxins and baking soda bottle in the shower to powder the pits before drying off.
