How Can Trump’s Tariff War Affect Israel’s Crypto Ecosystem? Trump is signaling a comeback for aggressive tariffs — especially on Chinese goods and possibly tech imports from allies. That may sound like a trade issue, but it could quietly impact Israel’s growing Web3 space. Why? Israel’s crypto and deep-tech sectors rely on: 1. U.S. partners for capital and market access 2. Global supply chains for hardware like chips and servers 3. Regulatory clarity from Western markets If tariffs disrupt the flow of tech components (like ZK chips or validator hardware), Israeli builders could face higher costs, slower development, and funding friction. Tighter U.S. policies could also pressure Israel to align on compliance or limit collaboration with Asia-based partners. Web3 teams in Israel should start mapping dependencies now. Crypto is global. Donald Trump’s “America First” in Crypto – Why Markets Aren’t Rallying Yet Donald Trump is now positioning himself as pro-crypto, with an approach many are calling “America First in Crypto.” But despite the headlines, crypto markets haven’t seen the kind of rally you might expect. Why? Trump views crypto as a national advantage—not a threat. The key pillars of his crypto-friendly pivot include: ✅Pushing back against CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currencies), calling them a threat to personal freedom. ✅Criticizing the SEC’s regulatory crackdown on crypto companies and tokens. ✅Framing crypto innovation as a matter of national competitiveness, especially against China. ✅Calling for crypto to remain in the U.S., aligning with his “America First” ethos of tech leadership and economic sovereignty. But why isn’t the market reacting? Despite the shift in tone, crypto prices haven’t moved significantly. Here are three key reasons: 1. Uncertainty > Optimism Markets care about what will happen, not just what’s said. Trump’s pro-crypto rhetoric isn’t enough. His previous actions (e.g., $TRUMP tokens, Musk-DOGE hype) have eroded trust in #Web3 leadership rather than strengthened it. 2. Support for Blue-Chip Assets Only Trump’s backing seems limited to blue-chip crypto like BTC and possibly ETH. There’s no real support for broader innovation—at least not yet. 3. Macro Factors Are Dominating Trump’s economic positioning raises concerns over inflation, high interest rates, and tight liquidity—macro conditions that weigh down the entire market, crypto included. My final thoughts? Trump’s pivot to pro-crypto rhetoric is a net positive. However, in practice, it reinforces existing market power rather than encourage innovation. For Web3 builders and startups, that’s not the kind of support we need.
