At one point, my brother, sister, and I were all deployed to the Middle East at the same time: three children in uniform, thousands of miles from home. Back home, we had a praying mother. The greatest privilege in life is parent privilege, and we had it. Faith. Family. Freedom. 🇺🇸 It all begins at home.

Senator John Fetterman says he would rather be an honest senator than one who blindly votes with his party. Even if that means agreeing with President Trump, Fetterman says truth has to come before party loyalty. FETTERMAN: “I occupy more of a difficult space, where I happen to believe that things are true…and now increasingly that’s getting more and more difficult.” “Right now, if it happens that I agree with the president or with the other side in this very polarized time.” “I would rather just be very honest, and just kind of play it straight.” “I would rather be a great honest Senator than just one that’s only going to play to just one side.” “I represent Pennsylvania, the most purple state in the country.” “I don’t just represent Democrats, I represent 13 million Pennsylvanians, and I try to play it straight, and I have to think that’s my responsibility.”

Eighteen years sounds like a long time. It isn’t. Over our sink, my wife keeps a card with a button pinned to it that says, “The days are long, but the years are short.” Ain’t that the truth. Last night Emily and I went over to help deep clean my son’s rental house. He’s moving in this week, getting ready for his wedding next week. That part still feels unreal. It happened fast. Too fast. From learning to walk, to developing hobbies, to karate lessons, to a driver’s license, to graduation, to starting a career. Blink, and it’s done. All of it felt slow while it was happening. None of it feels slow now. For the past year or two, before going to bed, I’d look out the window to make sure his car was in the driveway. Soon, it won’t be, and it shouldn’t be. It’ll be parked at his own place, with his wife. In time, Lord willing, the cycle will repeat: father to son, son to grandson. That’s how it goes. This is a victory. I’m proud. I didn’t set out just to have children. I wanted to raise men and women of God. And he is a man of God: responsible, diligent, kind. Still, I can’t get over how fast it all moved. I remember older people saying this when I was younger. Now I’m one of them. And they were more right than I could have understood back then. Maybe today is a long day for you. Maybe your little ones are driving you nuts. My youngest, Foxe, gets into everything. It’s hard to get anything done. It’s frustrating. But he’s learning how the world works. Right now his world is small. Before I know it, I’ll be helping him carry boxes to his car too. I know you’re tired. I know you feel like you’re failing some days. I know you feel overwhelmed. But the “golden years” usually don’t look golden while you’re in them. You only see them clearly in the rearview mirror. And if you’re in that season now, you’re standing in it, whether you feel like it or not. Embrace it. It’s short. It’s unique. It doesn’t come back. With Hudson, I’m stepping into a new season. And I’m excited to see where the Lord takes him. This is the good life, even if lived with a touch of sadness.

There was a line from Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural address yesterday that took my breath away. He said he intended to replace “the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.” Collectivism in its various forms is responsible for the deaths of at least one hundred million people in the last century. Socialist and Communist forms of government around the world today—Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, etc.—are disastrous. Catholic social teaching has consistently condemned socialism and has embraced the market economy, which people like Mayor Mamdani caricature as “rugged individualism.” In fact, it is the economic system that is based upon the rights, freedom, and dignity of the human person. For God’s sake, spare me the “warmth of collectivism.”

Palmer Luckey on the question he asked his billionaire group chat Palmer is asked how he feels about billionaires who have sold their companies and are now cruising the Mediterranean on their yachts, rather than betting their fortune to make the world a better place. He responds: “I’m in a group chat called ‘The B-Boys Club.’ It’s all boys who have sold a company for at least a billion dollars… It doesn’t exclude women. Women would be allowed. It’s just thus far only boys have applied. And for years — all the way back to when I sold my company and got invited to the B Boys Club — I’ve tried to shame people: ‘You have so much money. Why are you not doing what you know is the right thing to do with this capital?’” He asks them: “Are you going to be Batman or are you going to be you?” Palmer has succeeded in changing the thinking of some members. Others have replied that racing old vintage race cars is extremely fun. “I’ve paid my dues Palmer,” they say, “I’m not in it to stress like used to when I started my company.” To Palmer, money is just a small part of it though. These people could leverage their intelligence, network, and reputations to affect tremendous change: “Why was I able to start Anduril? Money was a small part of it… People believed in me because I was proven founder who had started a multi-billion dollar company that successfully exited. That makes it easier to recruit people. You’re in a position to do what no amount of money alone could do. You could take some guy off the street and give him $10 billion, but he won’t be able to accomplish half of what some of these people would be able to accomplish… [Reputation] is a free resource. You don’t even have to spend you’re money.” This is why Palmer hasn’t done The Giving Pledge: “When you pledge to give away your money, what you’re really saying is, ‘I think other people can do more good with my money than I can.’ and ‘I think my view of the world will be more competently executed by others than myself.’.. Maybe there are people who are truly mentally and physically not what they used to be. But for many people, I think they could absolutely achieve their goals better than handing it to a non-founder or NGO.” He continues: “My thinking is I’ve got a view as to how the world should be, and I don’t think that there’s anyone else who’s going to more-faithfully execute on that than me. When I’m all old and used up, maybe I’ll change my mind.” Video source: @PeterDiamandis (2025)

Mark Robinson proposes a law ensuring that during government shutdowns, soldiers, federal police, and air traffic controllers get paid, but politicians do not. They should lead by example, cutting their own pay first and forfeiting backpay if unresolved quickly. He urges sharing this idea to prevent future shutdowns.

MY DAUGHTER TOLD ME I’M MAKING A FOOL OF MYSELF WHEN I SENT HER MY PHOTO IN A WEDDING DRESS I’m 75 and met Peter in a nursing home. He’s given me the love and care I never had. When he proposed, I was overjoyd and shared the news with my daughter. She harshly replied, “Mom, you’re making a fool of yourself. You’re too old to play dress-up and pretend you’re a bride. At your age, it looks pathetic.” My heart is broken. Should I cancel the wedding and return the dress, settling for just a family dinner instead?
