@joheeei @vaccumdream Visual novels can have light gameplay elements in them. Like sure they sre a visual novel still but it is also a game. Like even DDLC has options to make and light changing of in game files to manipulate the story.

@ViolettChild Honestly survivors have limited scope to their gameplay so I dont mind the occasional game of perk stacking. Dont even know if vigil stacking still works but seeing exhaustion perks having little cool down is a fun occasional hurdle to face. Same with the examples you stated.

Perk stacking in DBD has to go, so many perks are fine if they aren't stacked by multiple players but when they are its a whole different metagame which leads to certain perks being balanced to be useless for soloqueue.

@StrawderryST Even if all the mini games were removed Rebirth would still be a big vibe with the party sort of game. Like i know the plot is a bit light during that section of the OG so I enjoyed the character moments. As I get older I find myself appreciating character moments more and more

Rebirth for me is a game made with love, I walk around and enjoy it, but it's like some kind of family game from the Mario franchise with a lot of mini games.
Remake feels more like OG plot focused

“FF7 OG also was goofy” Man, rewatching all this old games It makes me realize that OG gave you time for both mourning and goofiness. It had a good timings, game allowed you to go through the tribulation and then switch to “fun” moment. Retrilogy failed to do so to me

This is partly why we need more spinoff games. Stranger Of Paradise, Crisis Core, Dissidia (not mobile slop), etc. Something to hold people over between major releases. Even more remakes like what Capcoms been doing for years.
Modern gaming does take a long time tho.

@cosmonautscarf @JamesResEvil Its all good. I am nearly 40 and been gaming all my life so I actually appreciate that gaming went away from some trends personally. I think RE9 did it fairly well at parts where you have Grace slowly open certain doors for extra suspense but most just open quick for better flow

@CZunde @KungFuMan316 Replayed OG for first time in 30 years and played as Chris. I had to do so many trips to the box because my inventory problems that I became annoyed with the doors. If I know what I am doing and where I am going I am okay with them, but they suck when you are stuck.

@KungFuMan316 I really liked the "Hallways" In the Metroidvania Castlevanias because it always meant that I found a new area to explore. I also enjoy the Resident Evil door animations. (The Zombie scare in OG2 Is actually peak) Door skip is a speedrunner thing. Valid but I play for Aesthetics.

Cant speak for Highguard because I had no interest in it to begin with, but Concord was a legit decent game. Problem is you can get better games for free so why buy it?

@cosmonautscarf @JamesResEvil Replayed the game about a month ago and it was the most annoying part of the game. Its like if you have Kratos go pick up a log every few seconds. I get that it was likely necessary during that period of time but its tedious. An option to skip would be nice.

@moejy94 @calebhart42 Honestly the combat is what made me dislike the game. There was like a queueing system for spells/abilities or something so using multiple casters felt detrimental. Think in the end I had someone using the longest animation in the game to gunk up turn order and auto attacked

@calebhart42 X-2's combat and job system is fine but everything that could go wrong with an ff is in this game. Trash story, ruined Yuna, garbage villian, heck even the music made me want to chop my ears off (why the generic tekken music for an ff? 🤡).
