YouTuber Geekerwan has studied a leaked Nintendo Switch 2 motherboard and discovered that the custom chip has 8 Arm CPU cores and 1,536 NVIDIA graphics cores made with Samsung 8nm technology at a size of 207 mm² with 12GB of fast memory. Performance when docked to a TV is expected to be between Apple’s A18 Pro and a GTX 1050 Ti, while in handheld mode it is closer to a GTX 750 Ti or PlayStation 4 and similar to the Steam Deck. Although the hardware is based on older designs, features like DLSS, ray tracing, and special game optimizations could still make it run games very well.

The teraleaks confirmed that Iwata wanted to make a switch since the Wii and DS era, so that console it's essencially Nintendo's magnum opus, so that may have been their plan all along

Nintendo were always the innovative company that the market tried to follow. So why make a switch 2? I think this is a ps3 situation as nintendo got too cocky with the success of the OG switch.

nintendo has shipped underpowered hardware relative to competitors for 20 consecutive years and outsold them in 4 of the last 5 generations. the switch 2 having PS4 level performance in 2025 sounds embarrassing until you remember the original switch had PS3 level performance in 2017 and sold 146 million units. nintendo's competitive advantage has never been the spec sheet
