Some falsebeliefs that are hurting the Democratic Party: 1) Republicans are better at messaging bc their audience is dumb. 2) Republicans are better at keeping together their coalition because the Democratic coalition is more "diverse." The reality is that Democrats back opaque, convoluted, marginal policy ideas because the straightforward, popular policies like Medicare for All, a living wage, tax the rich, are opposed by their donor base. The inverse conservative policies (cut taxes/cut government) can be said straightforwardly because those policies are in line with what the corporate donor base both parties share support. Democrats sound convoluted not because their policies are "smarter," but because they have to employ more sophistry to do their donor's bidding while not upsetting the base. They have to use rotating villain voting + the filibuster + rely on executive vetos + sunsetting popular policies like the child tax credit in order to make sure nothing they *say* they want sticks. To point #2: This is so racist is wrong. There is very little "diversity" of opinion among the issues that ALL Americans-- not just the Dem base -- want. Medicare for all is an 88% issue among Dems, and 49% among Republicans. The overwhelming majority of Americans want it. Dems blaming "diversity" for not running on popular, economic populist policies is wrong and downright hateful.

What makes this statement so hollow is that AOC does not seem to have an issue coalescing with white nationalists—e.g. Tom Cotton, Ted Cruz—on other issues (China). The inconsistency is revealing and so is her deliberate choice to treat her base as if they are clueless children. But to win them over she must be explicit in her anti-Zionism, instead of catering to a non-existent voter. A good first step would be to apologize for carrying water for the genocidal Biden administration.

Mehdi - while Biden was sponsoring genocide, AOC embraced and endorsed him. It's not just leftists who consider that a deal breaker.

People are panicking about MTG being more outspoken on the genocide than AOC because it shatters the illusion we have a left in this country.

70% of Gaza was flattened under Biden and Harris, with their help. And as the bombs sent by the administration continued to drop on the tents of refugees in Gaza City, as children's bodies were turned into liquid by Israeli attack drones - and as Kamala Harris vowed to continue to send these weapons of death to Israel - AOC stood on the convention stage, looked us in the eye, and said that Kamala Harris was working tirelessly for a ceasefire. She lied to blunt the momentum of the Uncommitted Movement. She lied to undercut the only electoral leverage we had to extract concessions and force Harris to endorse an arms embargo on Israel. This is what happened. This is what is unforgivable. The only lie is that the Democratic Party is any better than the Republicans when it comes to standing up to the genocidal regime.
