Nearing the end of my work hiatus. Some thoughts on the break: Feels cliché to say it, but I didn’t know how badly I needed to just… stop. It’s been weird laying awake at night crying tears of joy because you’ve found ephemeral peace of mind. I feel blessed to have experienced these emotions the past couple of weeks, and I don’t want them to end. The past 6+ years doing the creator grind into the startup grind has been brutal on my mind and body. Having children during that time was inspiring, but also stressful. The highs are high, and the lows are low, but the mental whiplash is something I just physically can’t take anymore. In 2024, I’m going to put my time and energy into the things that matter most; health, family, and only the highest work priorities moving forward. I’ve been redlining it for a long time, and while I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished, I’d prefer not to work myself into an early grave. Too many people depend on me not to. This ultimately means I’ll be less available and less responsive to messages and requests outside my direct FoV. I’ll also be spending far less time (don’t spend too much as is) on social media. Thank you to everyone who pushed me to take this vacation and disconnect. You know who you are, and I’m eternally grateful for your guardianship. Life is a marathon, not a sprint, and I’m ready (excited, even) to slip back into a slow and steady jog and enjoy it while there’s still time. Hope this resonates with those who’ve felt the need to do the same. And to all founders that took a leap of faith these past few years, cheers to you, and I wish you the best of luck. GG
