April 4 — International Mine Awareness Day 🌍 While the world moves forward, Azerbaijan continues to live under a silent, invisible threat — every single day. • Around 12 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory contaminated with 1.5 million more landmines by Armenia during 30 year long occupation • Since 2020 — in peacetime — 400+ civilians have been killed or severely injured • Landmine contamination obstructs reconstruction and rebuilding projects in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur regions of Azerbaijan and safe and dignified return of former IDPs These are not just numbers. These are lives cut short, families shattered, futures stolen. Demining is not only a technical process — It is about justice. It is about human dignity. 🇦🇿 A pleasure to speak by phone with my counterpart, Minister @bayramov_jeyhun, to thank him for Azerbaijan’s support in facilitating evacuation of Belgians from Iran. We discussed the importance of de-escalation in the Middle East and strengthening all efforts and multilateral cooperation in this regard. Today, #31March – Day of #Genocide of Azerbaijanis – marks the 108th anniversary of the atrocities committed by radical Armenian groups against #Azerbaijani people. On this day, we commemorate with deep sadness the dear memory of all our compatriots who became victims of ethnic hatred and genocide. May their souls rest in peace!

The Head of the Mission 🇦🇿 @JafarHuseynzade welcomed the newly-appointed @NATO Secretary-General's Special Representative for the #Caucasus and #CentralAsia, #NATO DASG for Partnerships, Ambassador Kevin Hamilton (@KHamiltonBE). During the meeting, parties had a fruitful discussion on #Azerbaijan-NATO #partnership and its perspectives, the crucial role of Azerbaijan in safe evacuation of citizens and diplomatic personnel of NATO #Allies and #Partners from Iran, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

Joined my colleagues at the Consultative Ministerial Meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I have reiterated and highlighted the urgency of addressing the escalating regional crisis and military confrontation. Informed participants about the 5 March drone attack from the Iranian territory targeting Nakhchivan, which wounded four civilians and damaged critical infrastructure, and stressed expectations for a swift investigation and non-recurrence. Reaffirmed #Azerbaijan’s position on the need for de-escalation and strict adherence to international law to ensure regional stability.

The XIII Global Baku Forum is launching under the theme “Bridging Divides in a World in Transition.” The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, will deliver the opening address. The Forum is dedicated to a highly relevant topic for today’s world, at a time when the international system is undergoing profound transformations. At a moment when numerous flights around the world are being cancelled and travel warnings are increasing, bringing together nearly 400 participants for such an international conference requires significant effort and coordination. The successful organization of this gathering and the creation of a platform for dialogue and discussion demonstrate a strong commitment to multilateral engagement. It also reflects the international community’s trust in Azerbaijan as a diplomatic hub of the region.
