Just came across a store scaling a shady MRR auto-ship offer…
390+ ads.
Running on Shopify Payments.
Risky with the current shutdown wave?
Yes.
Are they still scaling?
Also yes.
And before you ask…
“What’s shady about it?”
No. It's not the placebo supplement.
Look at the checkout.
You won't find the default recurring subtotal.
Instead:
“30 Day Guarantee”
And the usual:
“One or more items in your cart is a deferred, subscription, or recurring purchase.…”
Gets replaced with:
“By proceeding, you agree to charges at the listed price and frequency until canceled.”
Is this full black hat?
No.
Is it fully white hat?
Also no.
Do big brands do similar things?
Absolutely.
Go check Spacegoods.
You won’t find a “recurring subtotal” either.
This is where Shopify Plus starts to make sense.
Not because of lower fees…
Because of control.
