@ojogbonyemi @Essense7133 Right, but in the political space these Benins are docile why migrants take over we see Lagos participate in Yoruba affairs while anything Benin kingdom is only practiced within the palace of the Oba of Lagos this need to change.

@letsbuildnew9ja True, no child is older than who fathers them, Ogiso fathered Oduduwa and he Fathered Oronmiyan who was the first king of Oyo. So Benin is the father and originator of kingdoms in southern Nigeria.

He wasn't exiled "he was spared by the executioner" and a cock was killed to stain the machete as evidence he was executed just to prove to the king and his wife he was killed, and so he went up and hid himself at Ughoton before heading to Uhe where he became the ruler there note not king his son Oronmiyan was crowned king in Benin and he took same kingship to establish Oyo kingship. Benin is the source of kingship in Southern Nigeria.

Benin Empire abolished slave trade in 15-16th century and chased out the slave merchants (Portugal) at the same time that's why we were among the first to recognize the independence of Brazil from Portugal hence the reason Portugal brought up the ideal for Europeans to capture and share our territory at the Berlin conference in 1884 our stance made them go against us hence the reason we lost our sovereignty.

@BabaSammy66471 Olokun originally started at a place called Urhonigbe in Benin kingdom (Igodomigodo) by an hunter called Olo who descended into the source of river Ethiope for days without coming out, the villagers call it the mirror river because of its reflecting water body.

The truth of the matter is that our brothers all around us have already bought into the British ideal sold to them, the treaty was a tricky move for our army which were segmented in kingdom's to sign treaties individually which in turn weakened our regiments, if our great Oba Ovonramwen had used his authority to stop the form of treaty within the empire in general the war would have been won by even before they execute their berlin greedy conference sadly while they planned in Berlin our ancestors knew nothing oyibo people were planning 😕🤕

Later they will say Benin people are troublesome. Prople will just sit down & start appropriating Benin heritage. From the Oba title, to Ada & Eben, okuku, even Queen idia mask. This symbol is 100% Edo. Using borrowed culture doesn't make it yours.

Please note, Oronmiyan never wage a war with Igodomigodo (Ubini Kingdom) he was the grand son of the Ogiso that just joined his ancestors at that time hence his father Ekaladerhan (Oduduwa) was old and couldn’t come back he was sent to reign in his father’s place but his reign was shortened because of the differences between the culture he grew up and the culture of the Ubini people so he had to leave after he had a son to keep the blood line of the Ogiso.

I watched with amusement the drama unfolding in Oyo State between the State Government and Alaafin Owoade Elewu Ettu 1. Suddenly, Alaafin Owoade who was dragging superiority with Oon Ọjájá II found troubles nearer home with Olubadan Ladoja and even much nearer home in Àgọ́ Ọjà right under his nose. There are a few things I however don't think I understand about the Oyo Alaafin Throne and I wouldn't mind some enlightenment 1. Ọ̀rànmìyàn was Oduduwa's son or grandson. He was born in Ile-ife He went to Igodomigodo land, waged wars of conquest or, as some historians say, was invited by those people to organise their Government for them. He became first Ọba of Bini. At some point he had MARRIED A BINI WOMAN who gave him Iweka whose lineage has produced the On of Bini till today. Centuries later the same Bini people came to harass the Aworis of Lagos. Another Prince of Awori had married a BINI WOMAN and ADO, the product of that marriage is the lineage which has been producing Obas of Èkó. Ọ̀rànmìyàn and the Aworis were both from ILÉ-IFÈ. 2. Ọ̀rànmìyàn returned to Ilé-ifè only to chase out Ọbalùfọ̀n Aláyémọrẹ, the sitting and 3rd Oonirisa Ilé-ifè. He took the Throne and became 4th Ooni Ile-ife. He soon left, this time up North. He went to the location which is generally under today's Kwara State, somewhere near the Niger River. The area was then NUPE land of the Borgu people. He went there and somehow established a Kingdom. At some point he MARRIED a NUPE WOMAN who gave him children including Àjàká, Sàngó etc. When Sàngó was going to marry he went to his mother's NUPE land to get ỌYA for wife. It is the reason River Niger is called Odò Ọya and the Northern is called Òkè Ọya because it is beyond the River Niger. Effectively the NUPE people already took control of the Alaafin Throne. At the end, Ọ̀rànmìyàn was buried in Ile-ife. 3. The long period of inter-ethnic marriages between Hausa, Nupe and Yoruba may have created the Baruba tribe which is also part of today's Kwara. All of these were over many centuries ago. The Fulanis met them on it. The Arabians met them The Europeans met them. BANDITRY AND EXTORTION aka Empire building became the order and SLAVE TRADE was the mainstay of the Oyo economy. What is known as Oyo Empire was outrigh Banditry just as we have the Fulanis rebuilding it all over the country today. 4. Eventually the Baruba and Nupe people connived with the Fulanis to route out Oramiyan's descendants from the place called Old Ọ̀yọ́ or Ọ̀yọ́ Ilé. That was sometime in the 19th century, 1835 perhaps. The Alaafin moved down to Òkè Ògùn areas. 5. Thinking about it now it is likely that the Alaafins who got unceremoniously removed from power, murdered, exiled or other maltreated - and there were many of them - were the ones who didn't come from the lineage of the NUPE woman. I think the Nupe/Fulani alliance have been controlling Oyo and Alaafin for long and it may just be the issue he had with Aàrẹ Onakakanfo Àfọ̀njá stationed in Ilorin. 6. Eventually Alaafin Atiba moved to the current site of Oyo and stayed put. Meanwhile Àgọ́ Ọjà and the people on it have always been there and they traced their roots to Ile-ife.. The people of Aawe around that same place traced their roots to Ile-ife. The founders of Ibadan traced their roots to Ile-ife. Ijebu, Remo and Aworis all traced their roots to Ile-ife. 7. The concern for me now is the extensive mix-up of Kóòtú Òjíire with Baruba, Nupe and Fulani in the composition of the Alaafin of Oyo. The descendants of Oranmiyan had gotten themselves mixed up with Nupes, Fulanis, Barubas untll we can't be very sure of the Yorubaness of the Alaafin himself It is even intriguing that Gani Adams is rumoured to have NUPE ancestry I have read somewhere that the Bashoruns of Oyo including the notorious Bashorun Gaa have always been of NUPE ancestry.../

Wrong asumption, the throne of the Oba of Benin predates the title (Oba) as its the throne of Ogiso which dates back to 40BCE moreover the current Oni stool was politically created by Awolowo, the Oba of Benin is only connected to Uhe where Ekaladerhan ne Oduduwa established and lived the rest of his life.

Britain was in the kingdom of Benin for 200 years trading palm oil, timber, cotton, ground nut, salt and many other "without coming in contact with those across River Niger (Hausa-Fulani) whose picture was placed to describe their new colony (Nigeria)" they decided in Berlin in 18th century to take over trade which they successfully did in a provocative way against The Kingdom of Benin whom at that time, the country that controls most of the trade in the coastal corridor, it's very wrong to continue this agenda in 21th century We demand for the restoration of United Kingdom of Great Benin. @RoyalFamily @UN

129yrs ago today, the British invading force invaded the kingdom of Benin, loot the treasures of the royal court, burnt down the kingdom's capital, and sent the king on an exile, all because the British govt, wanted full control of the Benin trade.
