@CourierPostman @staryutas That’s my point. For SG people, if you lose, you are dead 99% of the time. Unlike people like Yuji, Nobara and Megumi that can lose and get away with an injury. Their fights are lower stakes. The only reason Yuta survived was because it was a huge team fight, unlike Yuki and Gojo

@CourierPostman @staryutas I mean yeah his only L was to Sukuna. But the issue is that he’s SG. He’s supposed to be a different level than everyone else. We can’t really compare him to people like Yuji and Megumi. Yuki was a SG for way longer than everyone else and she had 0 physical damage on her.

@CourierPostman @staryutas I don’t know if Yuta is his top fav, honestly it’s probably Toji, not Sukuna. But Gege literally started the whole series with Yuta, so of course he’ll have a love for him. Saying he didn’t suffer at all throughout the series is pretty insane though.

@CourierPostman @staryutas Oh I thought you were just talking about permanent physical damage. If we are talking about traumatic losses, then Yuta has Vol 0. Lost the only person he cared about and cared for him, then accidentally cursed her so that she couldn’t move on, then lost her again.

@Azazelop123 @staryutas Maki lost her sister and she got burnt to the point of having scars all over her body. Aside from Hakari even minor characters lost something during the series. Todo lost his hand, Miwa lost her ability to swing a sword and Mechamaru, Noritoshi lost his clan to Kenny

@CourierPostman @staryutas Yuta comes out with around the same damage as most of the other good guys. There wasn’t really much permanent damage to the main cast. Megumi got some scaring, Yuji lost 2 fingers, Maki is scarred, Hakari had 0 damage. Nobara got it the worst tbh by losing an eye.

@Azazelop123 @staryutas The thing is that Yuta comes out COMPLETELY unscathed and with zero consequences. The only notable feature from EVERYTHING he went through is the Kenjaku scar. And yeah, I know how CS works. It was given to Yuta who has two times as much CE as Gojo, removing it's only weakness

@CourierPostman @staryutas The lack of consequences thing seems to just be him surviving things he probably shouldn’t, but that’s a thing with most of the good guys. Also his copy doesn’t remove downsides. Cursed speeches recoil scales from the difference between CE levels. This was said in season 1.

@SMadareme40328 Most shows, even bad ones have basic systems like that. Also that isn’t why SL stood out. The appeal of the SL anime came from the hype people had about the Manhwa. That hype came from the incredible art in the manhwa, not the world building or character writing.

@SMadareme40328 @kingReymyon “Substance” is a strong word. It set up some mysteries, but apart from that, it was just about Jinwoo getting stronger. There was no character writing for anyone apart from him. The whole start is to show how busted he is and how pathetically weak everyone else is in comparison.

@SMadareme40328 I agree. My point is that it isn’t a sign of good writing. It’s the bare minimum for a story. It’s like if I was praising my fav show and I said “and in the first few episodes they even gave us the MC’s main motivation”. Like yeah, that’s what every show does. Not praiseworthy.
