@PalmyrPar Long 2010s ended in March 2020 for obvious reasons. Excluding Covid, I think late 2022 is the latest you can push it.

@RickHug31749554 @Fahadnaimb Doha, Dubai, etc keep shutting at short notice for hours at a time due to drones etc there’s a risk that either flight could get abruptly cancelled. Also Qatar are being much more cautious than emirates so again, wouldn’t want 2 be stranded for days incase they cease flying

Bangkok → Doha on Qatar Airways today... genuinely expected this plane to be completely full with people rushing home from Thailand, but it’s far from it. Plenty of empty seats, cabin feels half-empty. The Middle East situation is obviously making people think twice about flying through the region right now... understandable, but still surprising to see such low loads on a normally busy route

@Nickcrit @CherokeeDriver @Fahadnaimb The notion of air corridors makes zero sense when 1) the chain of command in Iran is now so far down that any rogue officer can direct missiles at any target 2) interceptors could still erroneously target aircraft 3) shahed drones could run into aircraft

Emirates says full capacity is coming “within days”... currently at ~61% pre-war schedule after 46,000+ cancellations since late February(subject to airspace and ops approvals). Good for passengers stuck or rerouted... the airline is trying to push hard to get back to normal.

@INDGeopolitics @btarunr So what if he’s an American stooge? (He’s not by the way) Nepal’s foreign policy is for Nepals Prime Minister to decide, not India’s.

The only difference is, World isn't some fiction and stupid actions have real time consequences. He is a American stooge and a strong proponent of Greater Nepal (Google it). He has already started working on delinking of Nepali currency with indian rupees. Not a good way to begin a diplomacy with it's neighbor.

@analyticflying @shrsddq Probably not is my guess, most flights into dxb in the coming days are likely to be very empty. It will take months if not years for them to build back their reputation for being a connecting airport. Emirates flights will operate with many empty seats going forward

Indeed. At the moment it's a partial schedule, so they're not focussed on connecting traffic. They plan to get back to their full schedule in the coming days, which implies they want to get back to connecting ops. I understand why they want to do that since their business doesn't exist without it. But you raise the billion dirham question: do passengers from 3rd countries want to do this right now?

Emirates are being ambitious attempting a network restart, but it gives Iran an incentive to target DXB during an arrival bank, just like its doing now! 10 holding nearby, 6 further afield & more about to join. Connecting hubs can't work if you can't control arrival times!

Emirates Support@EmiratesSupport

Following the partial re-opening of regional airspace, Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule while working to restore full network operations. ✈️ Flights to these destinations are currently operating: emirat.es/nowoperating. 🎫 Customers can check availability and book here: emirat.es/bookflights. We are accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority. Customers should only proceed to the airport if they have a confirmed booking. The airline anticipates a return to 100% of its network within the coming days, subject to airspace availability and the fulfilment of all operational requirements. Safety, as ever, remains paramount as is our duty of care. Operations Update ◾️ Yesterday, Emirates carried approximately 30,000 passengers out of Dubai. ◾️By tomorrow, 7 March, Emirates will have 106 daily return flights operating to 83 destinations, representing almost 60% of our route network. ◾️In certain high-demand markets, Emirates has significantly scaled up its operations. In the UK alone, the airline will be operating 11 daily flights across five airports by 7 March, reflecting the strength of travel demand between the UAE and UK. ◾️Additional capacity is being deployed across India, with Emirates scaling up to 22 daily flights, serving all nine of its Indian gateways by tomorrow 7 March. ◾️In the United States, Emirates currently operates to seven of its American gateways, ensuring continued connectivity between the US and the UAE during this period. We continue to monitor the situation closely and adapt our operations accordingly. We urge all customers to check emirates.com and our official social media channels, where we will publish the latest updates as they become available.

As a flight safety expert, I continue to sound this alarm based solely on my extensive experience: Emirates, Etihad, and Air Arabia are potentially compromising passenger safety. Can these airlines truly guarantee secure airspace once their flights depart from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah? Contested airspace inherently carries significant vulnerabilities, with misidentification standing out as one of the gravest risks. This peril could lead to catastrophic incidents, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance and alternative routing strategies. Furthermore, geopolitical tensions in such regions amplify the chances of unintended escalations, demanding that airlines prioritize transparent risk assessments and robust contingency plans to safeguard everyone on board.

@Calebsmi28 @wyjoenthusiast @TeamUSA @usahockey This is what happens when you have a president who uses vile rhetoric and shows zero decency and basic respect for literally anybody, and has zero respect for the office of president. It trickles down to the rest of society and becomes normalized.
