Is @RishiSunak English? Of course he says BUT does @Nigel_Farage agree? I ask him on Political Thinking because @GoodwinMJ - the man Farage wants to join him in Parliament - says “People can identify as British and indeed English in terms of nationality but many (eg Rishi Sunak) are not English in terms of ethnicity." Farage talks about "putting our own people first” but is reluctant to define what he means by "our people". He says what matters is how you feel not your DNA. This matters if @reformparty_uk are to ever take power. Is @Nigel_Farage right to say that "If we take the word ("colonised") out Ratcliffe is accurate & right"? As I point out to him on this week's Political Thinking Sir Jim got his facts wrong & so did Farage when defending him. Ratcliffe claimed the UK population had increased 12 million since 2020. Actually, it increased 2.7m in that time. If he'd said since the year 2000 he would have been right. In a post backing him Farage said “1 million people living in this country don’t speak any English at all”. Actually, the last census showed that 161,000 don’t speak English at all although a further 880,000 could not speak English well. He said "4 million people living in this country barely speak passable English". Actually, 4 million did not speak it as their main language but spoke English either "well" or "very well". "I absolutely dispute the idea that this isn't someone driven by burning passion" The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, and former leader of the Labour party, Ed Miliband, defends the Prime Minister Keir Starmer, saying he's passionate about changing the country.

It is, of course, a fact to say that resignations did not follow Anas Sarwar’s extraordinary public call for Starmer to quit but that doesn’t mean folk didn’t consider resigning, talk about it & then pull back. You’re right to say that Prime Ministers can & do survive challenges as both John Major & Gordon Brown did. However, it is also true that others - Thatcher, May, Johnson & Truss - have been toppled. Its always unwise to pretend you know with any certainty what will happen next but so too is it to argue that everything would be going OK “if it weren’t for those pesky kids” in political journalism.

Of course there were rumblings, but the only MPs I heard go the record were “usual suspects”. No MP resigned - not even a PPS. Certainly not a Minister, or Chancellor. And PMs have survived even that.

Not a hint of humility or self-reflection from @BBCr4today (or anywhere else in the legacy media) this morning after more than a week of relentless breathless speculation about the prime minister’s future that predictably turned out to be completely wrong.
