Congratulations Kitsumkalum! Yes to Treaty and its Constitution. The Treaty Commission celebrates this momentous milestone to move forward with a strong 90% approval for nation-to-nation and government-to-government partnership through treaty with Canada and British Columbia.

The Kitsumkalum Treaty will recognize their rights to governance and resources, representing 30 years of dedication and effort.

Modern treaties are vital for advancing Indigenous rights and self-determination. And this week marks significant milestones for Kitselas and Kitsumkalum First Nations as they initialled their respective draft treaties.

For over 30 years, Kitsumkalum First Nation and Kitselas First Nation have been negotiating their two Treaties. Modern Treaties open the doors to transformative pathways for self-determination, advancing rights and governance.

Today I was honoured to join @gary_srp to witness the initialling of the #KitsumkalumTreaty between @KitsumkalumBand, Canada & B.C. We were joined by invaluable engagement partners like @BCTreaty, @CityofTerrace, @KitimatStikine, & @NLGNisgaaNation to mark this major milestone.
