After suffering back-to-back sectional championship game defeats the last two seasons, the Mechanicville girls basketball team would not be denied in their third straight go-around in the Class B final. Mechanicville led wire-to-wire last night against third-seeded Corinth, en route to a 54-41 victory and the program’s fourth-ever section title; third since 2019. Tanner Eiseman was named the Class B tournament MVP after dropping a game-high 18 points, but perhaps the story of the night was Molly DiSiena - the lone senior on the roster - getting a taste of a championship before her time at Mechanicville is up. Last Friday, Mechanicville’s unbeaten streak in Wasaren League play reached triple digits with an 8-1 win over Spa Catholic. 10 season’s worth of Red Raiders contributed to the streak, and the seniors on each of those teams were honored prior to last night’s game. For this year’s group of seniors, being the squad responsible for getting the streak to the century mark was a daunting challenge, but yielded an incredibly gratifying sense of achievement. @MechanicvilleCS @Sect2athletics
