"This week I'm going to celebrate my 2nd ICCU failure by shopping for a new car. (I have a 2022 i5 SEL AWD 1st failure 34k miles, 2nd failure 54k miles). Anybody have EV suggestions? I'd love a GV70 EV but don't want another ICCU ticking time bomb. Test drove a Lyriq V and Blazer SS EV, and they felt a lot heavier and slower despite more hp/torque. Is the Cybertruck still a show car? I value quiet cabins and hp/torque and Tesla fit and finish isn't known for quiet cabins." torquenews.com/1/week-im-goin… What would you buy if you were in this situation?

@LamarMK Test drove a Ford Mach E GT and was impressed. It's on par with a model Y performance but has a bigger 91kwh battery. Nothing against the model Y but I can get the GT with 480hp/700tq for the price of a basic rear wheel drive Y.

I don't know about other electric vehicles but Teslas are extremely fun and reliable. No gas. Minimal to no maintenance. Just rotate your tires and add windshield washer fluid. That's it. The cost to operate is so low it almost feels like you're driving for free. Once you own one, you'll never go back.

If someone has $140,000 & they can: 1. Put it in the stock market. 2. Pay off their mortgage 100% recommend paying off the mortgage. Lock in the guaranteed return...especially in 2026.

@TeslaKing420 Looking at a gently used 2025 Mach E GT. I can get certified practically new unit (5k miles) for less than a new model 3 RWD. On par with a model y performance power for 1/2 the price. Also liked the non-minimalist interior better on the mach e. No interest in self driving.

@Mike_M_Klotz Suburban EV would have sold a lot better if they were able to give it 400 miles of range and offer competitive pricing versus similar gasoline or diesel model.

Turns out that everyone that wants a $100,000 9,000lb electric vehicle bought one while tax breaks existed. Shockingly, the number of people needing a $100,000 9,000lb electric vehicle is pretty small.

General Motors has again idled production at an electric vehicle plant in Detroit due to waning demand, less than three months after a mass layoff and reduction to a single shift. #GM #GeneralMotors #FactoryZero #automotive #autoindustry #EVs #electricvehicles

@TechOperator Got quoted $650 something (annual) to add a 2025 Mach E GT to our policy. It would 4th vehicle plus have a boat/Waverunner so get multi policy discounts. Pay for the entire year to maximize the discount. Debating one like this

What do you pay for Tesla insurance? Did your rate change compared to an ICE car or another EV brand? We switched from a Cadillac XT4 and ATS Coupe to a Tesla Model Y/3 of similar value, and our rates dropped slightly. Are Tesla owners out of touch, or is this an edge case used to unfairly characterize the Tesla community?
Chad Moran@ChadMoran

Show me a more out of touch group. There's a big difference in value vs affordability. Yes it's a good value, but it's not affordable. I convinced my friend to buy a Model Y and was quoted $400/mo for insurance. Went with an IONIQ that was cheaper and $110/mo for insurance. Oh and add $100/mo for FSD... C'mon.

@B_lonMusk @itskyleconner The efficiency of my old diesel car is the same after 179k miles. When I bought it 15 years ago it did 28-29mpg around town and 36-38mpg highway. I still get the same fuel economy out of it a decade and a half later. I may replace it with a Mach E GT EV in the next year or 2.

One of the worst parts of EV ownership is losing range every day… even when the car is just sitting there! I’m down to 87% capacity after nearly 4 years and 57,000 miles The palladium Model S / X are known for higher than usual capacity loss so this isn’t a shock, it just sucks. Enjoy the video ⚡️

@charliebilello Diesel is the same thing as heating oil but you're not allowed to run heating oil in a street diesel because road taxes haven't been paid. Why would heating oil be so much more expensive considering it's taxed much lower?

Friendly Reminder: The average car payment is $749/mo. If you invest that money instead? You'll have: $142,789 in 10 years. $485,350 in 20 years. $1,311,510 in 30 years. That "new car smell" is your money on fire 🤣

@mwash1983 @TheSalonDon The inability to refine enough light sweet crude should be declared a national security issue. It doesn't fix the problem right now but would help with energy Independence in the future.

@mwash1983 @TheSalonDon Aware that many refineries are set up for heavy crude. If an excess of light sweet crude couldn't be refined here that would fall under the definition of excess and be exported

@AdameMedia We need temporary decoupling from global oil markets. A $75 cap on domestic crude used at home, pause exports, and protect our fuel supply. Let global prices surge while ours stay stable. The urgency will push every major nation to help reopen the Strait. Crisis ends → cap lifts
