@TomRyanKY @PR_ChelseaH I will not name the trainer or the horse but a horse was scratched at Saratoga on the track last year and has not been worked back since what does that tell you and this was a well-known trainer

@roosterbythesea @BradFree1 So every other jockey in the race received the message but Hernandez? And that is the vets fault? And you think the vets scratch your perfectly sound horses just for fun? What are your horses names?

@BradFree1 Track vets need accountability. Compromise one of the nicest fillies to race in SoCal in recent years and the betting public. Egregious. We have had Keeneland vets scratch 2 of ours at gate and were deemed perfect the next morning. Costs us at least 6 weeks with perfect horses.

Queen Maxima story clarification: Santa Anita stewards were not involved in the late directive from track officials/veterinary staff that contributed to Queen Maxima’s flat third as odds-on favorite G3 Monrovia Stakes. Details in DRF story link. drf.com/news/reason-qu…

@IsItSwift Pletcher has a great vet. I’m sure he will be ready when he ships to Kentucky, but in the current climate in KY and with Repole’s mouth, there is no guarantee he makes it in the gate.

I’m losing my optimism about Horseracing. State vet’s situation in Kentucky is ridiculous. The sport gives Media rights to 3rd party that won’t open up viewing. HISA failing to align rules or even licensing. Department of Labor terrorizing Trainers. Jockeys can’t use whips. I’ve devoted my entire life to the sport and I’ve watched it lose viewership annually. I’ve Invested in helping grow the sport while enduring pushback from entities more worried about their market share than growing an industry. I’ll retire June 30,2034 sell all my equipment and properties. Likely to never look back. Unless @RepoleStable can shake the tree for change, I’m doubtful. I’ll see you at the races or Not.

It’s still stupid. First Saturday in May. First Saturday June. First Saturday July, makes more sense.

@knvszn @IsItSwift Yes, that’s the video I saw as well. These horses run hard and train hard to get to the Derby, so it’s not surprising they may need some work, but I didn’t like him pulling up like that. He may very well go on and win the Derby, but I’m not crazy about him.

You saw Renegade comingn back lame?
Barbara Guilden@BGuilden97339

@IsItSwift Yes~off left front coming back. Was very subtle, but that’s when all his adrenaline is pumping and the outrider was holding his head

@IsItSwift I watched him jog back with the outrider and I thought he looked off. It is unusual to see one off right after the race, you usually won’t see it until they cool out a little and the adrenaline comes down a bit.

Class President will get 60 days off for bone bruising. He had all diagnostics (pet,ct, X-rays) and revealed no surgeries were needed. Good luck to everyone in the @KentuckyDerby It is a special time of year.

@IsItSwift Wow. Renegade 17th. You envision gate trouble or just a poor run cuz he’s not that good?

@RepoleStable Ugh~just when I started to respect you for all you do for the industry. This horse is lame. Your horse was lame on Derby day. Why don’t you get that? That vet may have saved your horse’s life that day. It’s not personal, they are protecting the horse.

Sorry Elliott and WinStar, and to the many hardworking trainers and owners who invest so much in this tough sport. I hear your frustration. The reality is this started almost a decade ago with the Jockey Club. In my opinion, they wanted more control and arbitrarily decided that “safety” would be measured by one metric, on-track fatalities. The Jockey Club then drafted the vision for what HISA would become. Subjective science. HISA forms, and due to the Jockey Club’s incompetence over many years, the primary measure of safety becomes fatalities. As an entrepreneur who truly loves horses, there could not be a dumber main metric. The hardest part of this industry is seeing injuries…galloping, training, racing, on the farm, in a stall. I lost the greatest horse I ever owned just exercising. That horse was Uncle Mo. At 16, he took a bad step in a field, fractured his foreleg, underwent surgery, and we still lost him. That’s the harsh reality. These horses can take one misstep, anywhere, anytime. It’s sad and pathetic. By spotlighting fatalities, the Jockey Club and HISA have done real damage to the industry and the breed. The pressure on vets and trainers is unfathomable. We must accept that due to their physiology, Thoroughbreds will always be susceptible to catastrophic injuries, race or no race. Just like human sports or driving, risk will always exist. In my opinion, despite the Jockey Club’s data through HISA, fatalities today are about the same as pre-HISA. This fear-driven control, combined with zero positive marketing, has put the sport in a tailspin. What’s even more frustrating??? The Jockey Club stewards refuse to sit down with me and a group of industry experts to actually fix this. But hey, in their defense… What brands have I built??? What do I know about marketing??? What do I know about business??? What do I know about horse racing??? 🤷🏻‍♂️

So Nick Smith & his team scratched John Hancock this morning after looking at him for 30 min. & multiple jogs bc it was not obvious to them. He has not run in 365+ days, passed the vet test in Fla. to run two weeks ago, & passed the blood test. But here is a question. Ky average catastrophic breakdown in 2025 was 1.24/1000 starts. National average was 1.04/1000 for 17% improvement over Kentucky. If Nick Smith and his team are doing such a great job, then why is the breakdown rate higher in Kentucky when he scratches twice as many horses? 💁‍♂️

@WinStarCEO Why the year lay off? How are we supposed to be outraged with no information. Release his vet bills and notes and be transparent.

@rosenht1 @WinStarCEO So the CEO of Winstar is calling out a regualory vet on social media? Are you saying that this horse is not off right hind? Perhaps you would like to share your veterinary records for the last year Mr. Walden? I’m willing to bet, they would say a lot about his right hind.

Ok, so even if he did experience some sort physical issue in the November, you are so certain that he was destined to bounce, that you will assume the same pattern this time around. Even though he might be perfectly sound now, will have moved forward 4 or 5 points rather than 11, and roughly equalled his previous top, rather than establishing a much faster new one.

If Further Ado ran a 1 or faster (highly likely), then he is a major bounce candidate in the derby. Look at the bounce after he freaked last year. If he had at least 2 months off to regroup, I’d be a little more confident in a pair/progression #KentuckyDerby

@WinStarCEO I wish mine had jogged that sound without having to out smart the state vets like I’ve done many times over the years!! They have no clue! Not a vet in the world can tell me more what’s going on with my horse that I’ve seen and spent months with and they see for 5 mins whole life
