Congress needs to come back into session right now and remove this man and the Vice President who supports his insanity and criminal threats against civilizations instead of doing his difficult duty under the 25th Amendment. The individual Republicans blocking that are individually going to be judged for that by history and, in the shorter run, by the American people. All of 🇺🇲 us.

If Hillary Clinton was dragged before Congress to answer questions about epstein despite never meeting the man, melania should do the same since she actually met him. Reading a prepared statement then fleeing before answering questions isn't enough.

He's right, but the palavering "big guys" don't want to see it. It's not about enriching them or enabling their global power plans, just some more of that boring human rights stuff that Reagan used to go on and on about. Back in the days when republics *did* become free and an evil empire *did* collapse. May those successes of human freedom's long march continue. May the Lion and Sun Revolution succeed soon. X translated excerpt: "...This regime, no matter how weakened, cannot be a reliable partner for any lasting agreement. A wounded animal is always more dangerous. That is exactly what this regime will do. If it sits at the negotiating table, it is not out of goodwill: it is, once again, to buy time, extract concessions, and bolster its capacity to sow more terror, in Iran and beyond. This regime will not be tamed by negotiation; it can only find new ways to strengthen itself through it. The only just path is to see this process through to its conclusion, to continue creating the conditions that allow the Iranian people to wage the final battle for their liberation. To ensure that, when Iranians take to the streets again, the regime can no longer crush them..."
Reza Pahlavi Communications@PahlaviComms

@EarthAlertNow Lava flows are confined to the summit crater, so there's no threat from lava to surrounding communities. The biggest issues are tephra fall and gas emissions, and those hazards depend strongly on wind conditions.

🌌Cosmic silence. Astronauts ignored Trump The president called the Artemis II crew to congratulate them on their record-breaking Moon mission. After one of his remarks, there was a long pause. The astronauts just smiled at the camera, glanced at each other, and said nothing. People online immediately started joking that the astronauts didn’t want to talk to the president. Trump later blamed “technical issues.” Watch the awkward moment👇

Sigh. Y'know, maybe if the Iranian people who protested, and many of whom died, in the streets this year had been consulted...

BREAKING: Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif posted the following on X on April 9, hours before the Islamabad talks begin: “Israel is evil and a curse for humanity, while peace talks are underway in Islamabad, genocide is being committed in Lebanon. Innocent citizens are being killed by Israel, first Gaza, then Iran and now Lebanon, bloodletting continues unabated. I hope and pray people who created this cancerous state on Palestinian land to get rid of European jews burn in hell.” This is the Defense Minister of the host country. Not a backbencher. Not a provincial politician. The cabinet member responsible for Pakistan’s military coordination with the United States, including with CENTCOM. The official whose ministry is managing the security arrangements for the very talks at which Vice President Vance will sit down on Saturday morning. The man overseeing Vance’s safety in Islamabad just called Vance’s closest ally in this war “evil,” a “curse for humanity,” and a “cancerous state.” No one in the Sharif government issued a rebuke. No clarification. No distancing. The silence is the signal. This is not an isolated outburst. It is the second structural crack in Pakistan’s mediator neutrality in 72 hours. The first was Prime Minister Sharif’s April 7 ceasefire announcement, which the New York Times and Forbes revealed carried a “Draft” header and had been pre-approved by the White House. That announcement declared the ceasefire applied “everywhere including Lebanon.” Within hours, Netanyahu’s office stated the ceasefire “does not include Lebanon.” Vance called this a “legitimate misunderstanding.” Araghchi quote-tweeted Sharif’s “including Lebanon” text and highlighted those two words for 3.69 million viewers. Pakistan’s announcement created the scope ambiguity. And now Pakistan’s Defense Minister has publicly sided with Iran’s interpretation of what that scope requires. The mediator is not mediating. The mediator is arguing. Asif’s post arrived at 17:02 GMT on April 9, while the Iranian delegation was already on Pakistani soil, while the Serena Hotel was being emptied of guests, while seven layers of security were being erected around the Red Zone, while a 30-member US security advance team was already on the ground. It was posted into the exact diplomatic window where the host country’s perceived neutrality is the single most important variable determining whether both delegations sit down in good faith. Israel did not agree to include Lebanon in the ceasefire. This is confirmed. Netanyahu’s office said it explicitly. The White House confirmed it. The IDF launched Operation Eternal Darkness on April 8, the heaviest coordinated bombardment of Lebanon since the war began, killing at least 254 people in a single day. Israel’s position is that Lebanon is a “separate skirmish” and its operations against Hezbollah are covered by separate security mandates. Whether one agrees with that position or not, it is the stated position of a key party to the broader conflict. And the host country’s Defense Minister just called that party a “cancerous state” whose creators should “burn in hell.” Pakistan was chosen as mediator precisely because it maintains working relationships with both Washington and Tehran. That was the entire basis of its credibility. Army chief Asim Munir held calls with leaders in both capitals. Islamabad offered the Serena, the security, the diplomatic infrastructure. CNN described Pakistan as having been elevated from “pariah state” to indispensable mediator. Axios called Vance’s visit the most significant US-Iran engagement since 1979. And the man responsible for the host country’s defense posture used his personal platform, hours before the highest-stakes diplomatic encounter in a generation, to declare one side’s ally a curse upon humanity. The talks may still proceed. The logistics are in motion. But the mediator’s mask just slipped, and both delegations saw it fall.

Nancy Mace is a Republican. She is calling for Pam Bondi to be held in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify on the Epstein files. Bipartisan. Both sides want answers. Bondi was fired before she could appear. The subpoena was issued to her, not the office.

.@derspiegel: "The US is increasing pressure on its European partners to commit military forces in the Strait of Hormuz. According to information obtained by SPIEGEL, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has informed European capitals that US President Donald Trump expects concrete commitments within the next few days for the deployment of warships or other military capabilities from Europe. Political pledges, such as those made in the days since the start of the war, are no longer sufficient." tickaroo.com/e/GBgQUSZnrHEI…

True, that. Not all Republicans are in on this, but enough are to really, really call for the party's loss of control of Congress. Then, gawd'elpus, we'll have to deal with the Democrats. Sigh. But that is still a better alternative in this crisis. It wouldn't be necessary if just a few decent 🐘 got on board with impeachment -- which should IMMEDIATELY follow, as soon as possible, the president's threat to destroy a civilization -- and the Vice President's backing him up ... From Hungary, no less.
Senator Patty Murray@PattyMurray

Where Congress should be a check on Trump’s every abuse of power—this Republican Congress is shamefully absent, even when he threatens to wipe out an entire country. My message to every American: you are voting in the fall. Your voice and your vote matter. You are not powerless.

It *is* time for Congress to act on the Epstein case. On this point, we agree with the First Lady. Survivors should have the opportunity to tell their stories in front of Congress. Witnesses should be called under oath to testify—as we have demanded for months, including Pam Bondi, Todd Blanche, and others who have actively covered up this case and refused to investigate and prosecute crimes. It is indeed time for action. On that we agree.
