Nice, unexpected gift from St. Thomas athletics for supporting the Tommie 🏀 program. Funny thing, in 32 years as a season-ticket holder at the U of M (most that included seat-licensing fees), never once got anything like this. Little things matter. #RollToms #CompetitiveJoy

@AB1001_disciple @ripper1399 If the drug is approved by FDA, why wouldn’t a major payor be willing to cover it if there are no other alternatives?

I don’t think people fully appreciate what centene approving use of amt-130 means even without FDA approval. An insurance company is willing to cover a $2m therapy because it fucking works $qure

The flopping epidemic has reached the NIT. That was gross with the Seattle dude against St Thomas there.

It wasn’t the NIT… it was the NOT. St. Thomas falls to Seattle, 67–52. The number that says it all: 19 turnovers. Nineteen. You’re not winning in March with that. A great season, but a tough, turnover-filled ending.

@Patrick_Reusse Okay, sure, but the only guy who touched the ball on the play isn’t a shooter… If the plan was to just let him create something, he HAS to go later. If the plan was to get the ball to an actual scorer, then nobody appeared to be actually attempting to execute that.

@Patrick_Reusse Didn’t screw around with long enough actually. The only thing that cannot happen there is somehow letting UND touch it again before the clock hits 0.0

Tommies’ season ends with well-earned loss. Tied, screw around with ball too long, turn it over, then mug UND’s center on a race down court. FT with 1/10th of a second. UND, 67-66.

1. So many thoughts going through my head. First, thanks to the UST basketball program for another great season. I hope it’s not the end & they get a chance in the NIT. It’s not the NCAA, but it would be another step for a rising program. (more)

@ranianasis @adamfeuerstein Perfectly said. People don’t realize this about HD community. Not calling the community weak, but totally at a disadvantage to be compared to DMD or CF or other rare conditions where you have two healthy parents able to fight!

yup, advocacy groups can both create false hope and push things through. dmd community has lots of money, influence and parents that are young enough to rally hard. hd on the other hand doesn’t hit until mid-life, at which point the patient is just trying to keep things together, and the parents are too old to mobilize effectively. and advocacy groups with lots of money are often the target of scientific charlatans.

The Duchenne muscular dystrophy patient & advocacy community keeps a gene therapy and multiple drugs on the US market, stopping the FDA from taking action, despite failed confirmatory clinical trials showing no efficacy and questionable safety. The Huntington's disease patient and advocacy community can't even persuade the FDA to allow a filing of a gene therapy, despite a positive clinical trial.

"also spoke with several investigators at CHDI who shared that FDA's u-turn on QURE's SAP may have been politically motivated" We know that there have been substantial political pressure from Huntington patients groups on getting AMT-130 approved from $QURE. They have been calling politicians left and right ever since uniQure got the letter from FDA in December. We also know that RFK JR personally called a Huntington patients to come and meet him this week. It cannot be coincidence? Right?

$QURE Truist CHDI Day1 Takeaways: Net-net, $QURE's presentation, in our view, was underwhelming and did little to materially improve outlook for AA. We were left wondering why QURE didn't just use PREDICT-HD and TRACK-HD for external control or use patients administered with ineffective low dose as functional pbo controls to assuage FDA's concerns. also spoke with several investigators at CHDI who shared that FDA's u-turn on QURE's SAP may have been politically motivated. This is also a point of confusion as Dr. Makary, the head of the FDA, at least based on his public comments, appears to be a champion of rare diseases with high unmet needs.

@johnkmason Not sure RFK ever invited KJ to “speak”. I believe the HHS team invited her to “attend” today’s press event. Just my guess.

@DesertDweller93 I believe it was. Other rare advocates outside of HD were in-person and seemed to have been invited. My guess is they invited a handful of rare advocates to join in person, but it wasn’t a “meeting”, it was a pre planned press event focusing on ultra rare conditions.

Wow Katy just said she was invited by RFK Jr to speak this week at HHS meeting. She said she can’t make it and I hope she changes her mind and appears at the meeting. Sounds like $QURE AMT130 issue is getting to the top people in the administration.
