AI is a major threat to Equity. Unless algorithms are built to center nondominant voices, AI will reify dominant culture. Why? Most of the algorithm builders are told to focus on dominant trends bc that’s where the money is. #systemicracism #capitalism

@charlesyeo Yeah it’s in the brain. Not caused by the bone on bone contact, crushed discs, etc. It’s how foolish pain patients are “thinking” or maybe a brain chemical imbalance. Ever consider there are multiple pain pathways & this may be one that these schmucks are universalizing?

@alanhahn @NBA_NewYork It’s a good thing to remember … but why now? The 50th win? Or a feeling behind the scenes that the team feels unappreciated? A message from the FO to soften any potential non-Finals outcome? Why now?

@tomhaberstroh It’s pragmatic - reducing injury opportunities & extending careers in theory - until it’s disallowed. The 65 game rule was an end-run on this & is too imprecise/too poorly targeted so it backfired.

What do you believe is the biggest factor that explains the lack of star availability in national TV games?

🤕 NEW @YahooSports: No Cade. No Ant. Luka Doncic out. All on Amazon Prime last night. Welcome to the new normal. New study shows that just 33% of national TV games have full availability from stars on both teams. On the NBA's troubling star outage: sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/mu…

Stephanie was a senior advisor to Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign. Before that she advised Barack & Michelle Obama & Bill Clinton. This kind of gross revolving door cash grab only serves to validate disaffected Americans’ cynical views of the modern Democratic Party.

Excited to advise @Kalshi as they continue to dominate the prediction market space. They're one of the fastest growing companies in the US — and one of the rare tech platforms that take a regulatory first approach.

@jmere09nyc @krispursiainen I don’t agree it’s too many games to be honest. But we definitely agree that owner and player greed will drive their choices. One other possibility … make games 46 minutes. Thats 3.5 games worth of time over a season without losing any ticket sales

@BKimGerv @krispursiainen The pool is already very large, nearly every team has a star or two on their roster. We agree they play too many games, but they won't change unless it affects their money, that's from the players and owners

I understand governors won’t agree to ditch 10 games because of the lost revenue. My question for dummies: would they really lose THAT much? I can’t imagine this being positive overall. Are they missing the forest for the trees? Or am I underrating how tall those trees are?

@jmere09nyc @krispursiainen They don’t have as many star-played games - and resting/strategically sitting multiple stars per game for those who have them is far more acceptable now. Either reduce games ($$) or rest (backfired), or increase the pool people come to see. Not sure what other options exist.

@BKimGerv @krispursiainen Completely disagree, the NBA has more stars than any point in its history. The NBA should reduce games, but the Owners and player will not agree to reduce their BRI

@dieworkwear Back when computers generated tons more heat and AC was nowhere near as good, it made sense to wear short sleeves despite tie requirements … in Houston.

i think short sleeved shirts look good with casual collars (e.g., camp collar) but not with business collars (e.g. spread, button-down). even less so with dress fabrics (e.g. poplin) and def not with a tie. does not matter how many '60s NASA pics ppl post. example of good vs bad:

slowly realizing that I think short sleeve button up shirts are inherently for babies button up shirts can be rolled up at the sleeves if you need more airflow—if you want short sleeves wear a polo no further questions at this time

@Traticaster101 Ok - but for that you’d have to position KAT to act as the hub, probably around the key - and KAT is typically trying to get to the post. I don’t see it working without changing the scheme and slowing down

Cats are attacking Dex, while his point is that you can use KAT as a passing hub in the offense, but he should not be the primary guy. I think we can all agree that the team plays better when the rock is being shared. Brunson has his moments when he can pound the air out of the ball, but the fact of the matter is that he’s our best playmaker. He can be better about controlling the tempo of the game. But the flip side is that his teammates need to step up, too. As of now, the offense is unbalanced. We’ve seen New York have great success with equitable distribution. But a lot is going on right now, from players not playing like themselves and looking checked out. There is no singular answer that will fix all the problems, but this team needs to regroup fast.
Dexter Henry@DHenryTV

This is why it’s important to look at data and see if it actually supports what you are seeing. KAT’s turnover percentage this season is 13.8% (43rd percentile AKA not good) and in games where he shoots 14+ times the Knicks are 20-18. The results are mid at best.

@ChiefIke Different styles of play at the time - Dirk could play center today just like KAT. He couldn’t when centers looked like Shaq and banging on the interior was the norm.

Look at Dirk’s shot diet and then look at KAT’s shot diet. Dirk could not play center. KAT is at his best at center. The only thing they have in common is height and the ability to hit 3s. Let’s not let agendas get in the way of the truth
Jim@NYGreenMachine

KAT could be Dirk Nowitzki to a Jason Kidd type, if he ever got a true point guard. But Brunson is to proud & all he cares about is his Nova click, & his numbers. He has NEVER embraced KAT. Neither has Brown. ICING your STAR duo center is a HUGE fucken problem @jalenbrunson1

@tomhaberstroh Clearly that’s not the goal. If it were they’d name, shame and punish tanking. Not water down the benefits of doing so. They have no mechanism for accountability. So they nerfed the reward instead of punish the behavior.

Always thought it was sad that Ayn Rand—one of the most successful authors of children's fantasy books of all time—had little enough saved in the bank in her old age that she had to rely on public assistance until her death, but I'm glad it was there for her.
