When I was running a crash investigation unit I went to 3 separate fatal crashes in the same day. I saw human bodies ripped to pieces and went home smelling of death. The next day I went back to work as normal. This man is a massive throbber and he deserves to be ridiculed.

The use of a picture and a video of a lifeless 13-month-old Preston Davey being carried into hospital in online news reports of the court case is deeply, deeply distressing and wholly unecessary.

Just occasionally it’s worth reading the readers’ comment section for fun. And, well, this is one of those times. Readers not impressed over at the telegraph dot com. telegraph.co.uk/family/relatio…

They’re ripping on this woman but I have seen a thousand middle and senior corporate managers do exactly the same when asked about some part of their grand plan that doesn’t make sense. Britain’s (and much of the West’s) entire managerial class runs on pure bullshit.

Called an ambulance, another bystander called cops. We stayed with him once he came to - dazed & distressed - & waited for services to arrive. He was blooded up, deep gashes all around his eyes. It was unprovoked. Not news here, but a random nun pushed over in Israel is. Righto.

A few months back, I was out with the dog in Maida Vale when a gang knocked an elderly Rasta out cold and repeatedly stamped on his head. Footage was caught on a bus’ cctv. Didn’t make a local paper, let alone the Evening Standard, let alone a national broadcaster.

I hate to call coverage like this antisemitic, but how can it not be. A non-lethal crime in Israel getting international coverage like this is odd. Does random acts of violence against Hindus in Pakistan or Muslims in India get similar coverage?

Polanski is a great example of this. You are dealing with someone who wants to project their belief that the Met Police officers responding to a double stabbing should have been aware in those split seconds that the stabber was a “mentally ill man.” You are dealing with a moron.

Exactly. In all the discussion about stockpiles, capacity, and economic pressure, one basic point has been lost: the goal of the blockade is not to damage Iran’s economy for its own sake. The goal is to use economic pressure to drive political concessions at the negotiating table. In other words, there blockade is a mean, not an end. All the talk about numbers, export levels, reserves, enrichment capacity, ultimately means very little if it does not translate into a change in Iranian positionsin the negotiations. And at this stage, there is little indication that Iran is moving in that direction. The blockade was offered as a kind of silver bullet, but there is no such thing as a cost-free, purely economic solution to a fundamentally political and strategic problem the administration facing with Iran today. #IranWar

Forget all this stuff about shut-ins, floating storage, tanks at Kharg, and all that. Ultimately, the discussion going on inside Trump's natsec team is probably some version of: Will the blockade force the Iranians to make concessions, and facilitate a better deal, and can that be achieved quickly enough to avoid more pain from Hormuz remaining closed?
