@JimAdams105 @adxllbaker I’m already back in Canada and never had symptoms. The point is that we took 2 PCR tests and came back negative, which should suffice, regardless of if we had a mild cough or not

@BLbackpackers @adxllbaker Is it a “new” (even if mild) or “worsening” cough? If so, I don’t think you’ll be able to fly to 🇨🇦 at this time, irrespective of the recently-introduced pre-flight PCR testing requirement (which is *in addition* to the symptom screening test already required since last year).

Attention anyone travelling to Canada (and some other countries) from the UK. You need a negative covid test to fly, but most airlines do NOT accept NHS tests. We’ve learnt from our mistake and missed our flight, but don’t want anyone else to have this happen! ✈️ 🗺 😷

@adxllbaker No idea, the Air Canada manager said it’s because you should only be getting an NHS test if you’re sick. I said that I had a mild cough but tested negative. He said if I had a mild cough I shouldn’t be flying, even if it’s negative. LOL 😂

@BLbackpackers That’s so interesting, I wonder what their reason is for not accepting NHS tests. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@BLbackpackers i do think it looks cool, and i get there’s no history etc, we talk about going, then kinda just get put off for some reason

i’m in two minds about travelling to Dubai, i’d like to go, but wouldn’t be arsed if i didn’t, anyone else feel like that about Dubai or any other destination ?

@RoadBudget I know they announced this in December but it doesn’t explicitly say NHS tests aren’t valid. AirCanada did not tell us anything, and the people at the airport said it’s not their job to, and that it’s our obligations to research the requirements, even though NHS wasn’t mentioned

@BLbackpackers The announcement was made in late December. Did your airline not notify passengers? I am curious as to how well airlines are getting this info to their customers. globalnews.ca/news/7550122/c…

@RoadBudget It changed the morning of our flight, as we were the first flight back to Canada since the 2 week ban. It would’ve been impossible to get a test that morning and get results before the flight, such a poor system. They probably turned about half the passengers away with no remorse

@adxllbaker Seems to only be a paid for PCR and LAMP tests for Canada, but there’s no guarantee it won’t change. They just said no NHS tests so do a paid one if you can. We’ve just done the Express drive thru test at Heathrow and got our results in less than 24 hours

@BLbackpackers What tests are they accepting then?

@davetravelthing I know right, who knew!? No one told us they weren’t accepting NHS tests. Staff representing @AirCanada were incredibly rude to everyone they were rejecting. Didn’t take time to explain the situation, just told us “you’re not flying today”.

@BLbackpackers They don't except NHS tests wtf? Thats ridiculous. That really sucks they did that to you. Its a disgrace tbh.

@TheFearlessFor1 Unfortunately not. We’ve been trying to get Matt’s PR in Canada, which has taken up all of our time, money and energy. Now with the virus, we’re both technically unemployed. Luckily we’re both freelance writers so we’re too busy writing for clients to write for ourselves 😔

@Boulder_Sam Thank you, we appreciate that. We always knew our hand would be forced eventually, it just came as a shock when it finally happened. Oh well, it's for the best long-term!
