I don't think Topps wants to sell hobby boxes to normal people anymore

I was a bit surprised to see 2025 Topps Platinum Chrome pre-orders sell out so quickly. For 2023 Platinum Chrome, there were over 94k hobby boxes produced. You'd have to think there will be more this time. Feels like they're trying to make it appear "limited" in order to get that secondary market pre-order pricing up. I wouldn't call it limited, per se, but unfortunately, I don't foresee getting another chance at $140/box. Also weird that case max was 10, while hobby box max was 2. @ScottPorch1 LOL, they've done those in the past. Extreme SSPs that no one wants except the employees. I mean, good for them that they get a card. That's pretty awesome. But I'm pretty sure most rippers would prefer their rare hit to be someone more recognizable.

@CardGameNomad Is this in Texas Coastal Bend Area? The restocker puts out a few products. Attempts to make it look like he’s taking empty boxes to the back to “throw trash”, but meets the scalper toward the back of the store to hand him product.

When a restocker works with a scalper, you stand no chance.

I know this because I am in a group dedicated to the product. The resell bots denied the groupies from being able to buy a single box. And didn’t take them long to list them for sale for double the price.

@Topps why do you continue to allow bots to buy product? The bots are buying for resell. Lots of loyal followers of Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary that have been anticipating this release for 2 years, were denied a box at checkout. Product sold out in less than a minute.

@peacock It’s just a black screen. It’s not just the derby it’s everything. I tried to stream movies earlier. The commercials work just fine, and sound works. It’s been going on since for at least a few hours now. Not sure how long. Is Peacock just radio now? Expecting a refund.

THIS is great response from the seller. No deal done, but much respect. His last message was “appreciate your interest.” We’ve all run into other sellers that get irrationally upset when you send an offer that’s well below list price, even though it’s right around comps.

@DaBearsFC @RC_BST I used to not mind, but always hate the risk taking the card out and handling it. Plus it’s super awkward trying to get close ups. I need a mani. 😂 It would be much easier if you could message a video.

@JeremyBranham Na! Yamamoto also struggled in the beginning. It’s probably just taking time to adjust. The NPB ball is smaller, I could see this being a major factor.

@namder23 @eBay Shipping rates recently went up. But yes, losing money shipping ground advantage on $.99 is normal.. even if all of it is paid on a shipping label through eBay. Consider yourself lucky the buyer doesn’t live in a state that charge sales tax on shipping. (Most do) you’d owe .15

@eBay this is crazy. I have to pay you 8 cents for a card that sold because of how you charge your fees. Its insane.

@KoldKobra @eBay Happened to me several times. The defects & misinformation cost me a couple grand over time. I adjusted the way I sell to auctions, finally back to good standing & now deemed a frequent seller. Took away my auto relist on auctions & now back in the gutter since I was doing well.

When will @eBay stop letting sellers cancel orders bc they don’t like the sale price? Needs to be a harsh penalty! This guy set a card to end at 6:45am on a Sunday, then cancels the next day bc he doesn’t like the price and tries to gaslight me. @CardPurchaser - do your thing

@RagweedCapital This was definitely a cyberattack. EBay sure as hell is not going to admit to it. If they have any insurance on this type of thing happening… cyber attacks are usually excluded.

@RagweedCapital Down on the biggest sale day of the week for auctions, Sunday. This past Sunday was also right after the NFL draft, also right after Topps Chrome Football was released. One day down..it already affected earnings for sellers and eBay. And same thing again today!

Ebay won't load on my desktop. Works okay on my phone. I heard that the site was down yesterday too. Won't take too many down days to really impact earnings.

@toast2772 I just saw a post earlier about an auction that was supposed to be a 7 day auction ended in 3 days. Listed on PSAs page, it was a third party’s card. The 3rd party obviously had no control over the change.
