oh so now Brits understand the ramifications of colonisation
Classic Hex@DoomerCoomer

@John1011792166 We never consented to immigration, we just wanted to exist too, and yet we were colonised, why is their happiness prioritised when it literally means violence against us?

@bellacaledonia @daveylittle He’s not comparing them, he’s simply saying learning old English would be to learn the deep roots of these islands, which is obviously correct.

@daveylittle Beacuse its not an appropriate comparison. Old English isn't a living language, and it ignores the cultural/linguistic imperialism and power relations at play

@iScotNews An interesting point, but you’re not seriously suggesting political regioning should take into account geography over actual population?

Andy Burnham says some "home truths" need to be told to Whitehall about London and the South East receiving preferential treatment, over " The Great North". He’s right. But Burnham would do well to remember that Leeds is not “the North” of the UK. It’s the north of England. The geographic midpoint of the UK sits just south of Edinburgh. It's wearisome how English regional terminology so often becomes presented as British geography without anyone in Westminster batting an eyelid, or even Burnham or UK MSM for that matter. @iScotNews

@MichaelRei77295 @callumseuk Ireland’s legislature is subordinate to the EU. Easy to separate power & state when state is subordinate to bureaucracy, which by the way DOES have issues with separation of power and state. The Irish can’t elect president of the EU Council any more than Brits can elect a monarch

@ArmstrongT97969 @joeschmo269 Now do England without the south east. I hate Celtic separatism but combatting it by arguing the UK is tilted heavily toward the south east is another way of saying you agree with the nationalists

@joeschmo269 Are you fucking stupid? The ONS are the Gov’s book keepers. They compile the stats then give them to the politicians not the other way around

The Celtic fringe in the UK is responsible for a colossal amount of the UK’s debt The ONS only gives us data from 1999 but from 2002 to 2023, the Celtic fringe ran up 40% of all the UK’s debt with only 16% of the Population They also all get more to spend per head than England

@MichaelRei77295 @callumseuk Why would you want to bridge the separation of power and state, as they have in America, Russia or Turkey? Our monarch vacuums up stately vices while having to walk on eggshells and having no useable power. Elected heads of state have mandates and wield them eagerly.

@callumseuk What the actual fuck do you mean? Are you suggesting that Charles' role couldn't, at the absolute fucking least, be filled by someone we actually voted for? What about his pure-chance bloodline means that they can't be replaced, explain yourself you fool

Despite evidence of localised cult practices in northwestern England, historians doubt the existence of a historical Andy Burnham, instead viewing him as a mythical saviour figure appealed to only in times of great trial and desperation

@juasanalghaib Kosovo is not an independence success story, far far far from it, and there are regions that don’t even recognise it, so it’s not even successfully procedurally independent, let alone everything else

Kosovo gained independence with less resources, less finances and less people and I don't see any of these pseudointellectual politics freaks claiming that they're too stupid or poor to run their own country
Mac 🌹@mactellomckeown

I like Scotland, I don't want them to be forced into an austerity programme that would come as a result from losing British government funding, and none of their parties seem like they'd be very good at governing an independent country

Scotland returned a fifth pro independence government. Regardless of whether you support independence or not, the question is do you support democracy.

@CharlieCurrie12 Your characterisation of Scotland as a victim of colonialism is factually incorrect. Scotland’s only claim to victimhood is it’s smaller population, which historically has governed & benefitted from imperial pursuits arguable more per capita than England.

The continued rise of Celtic nationalism & the unity of Welsh, Scotland & Irish nationalist are a direct challenge to & utter rejection of English colonalism. The social mobilisation of these 3 historical nations cannot be stopped. ENGLAND NEEDS TO STAND ON ITS OWN TWO FEET.

@rosscolquhoun If your threshold for independence is being governed by politics you disagree with, then every country on earth would look like a spider web. What’s your plan if an independent Scotland sees its own divisions? Balkanisation is terrible

> Most hated Prime Minister in history > Suffers secind year of record election losses > Says he will stay in office for a decade > Ministers tell him to resign > Convenes Cabinet meeting > Delivers pre-prepared speech > Refuses to elaborate > Leaves The inhuman, ideological stubbornness of Starmer is incredible. He's mogging the entire Parliamentary Labour party, recognising they have no bargaining power, and holding the implied threat of a snap general election over their heads to stay in power. All to carry out a gradual socialist revolution with the grim determination of a henchman. If I didn't hate him so much, I'd almost admire his conviction.

@AscendedYield Failure to have any sort of vision or coherent ideology. Winning 2024 with a record majority, significant goodwill and fresh momentum after 14 lost years is a golden opportunity for a government. Starmer just has no vision, he’s in politics for some other reason
