@dankrad There must be some bad blood because the post is not that bad and doesnt appear to be that triggering. It literally just said they will focus on censorship resistance, open source, privacy and security. Thats a pretty innocuous statement and unsurprising.

EF, last year: Hey, we want to listen to you users to make Ethereum better. EF, now: Jk, we looked at the real world. We don't like building for it after all, we'll go back to building cypherpunk stuff only. This is the EF going back to its old ways, undoing the changes from last year. I have feared this would happen because Vitalik clearly wasn't in with his heart. But whatever they say about the "ecosystem" being able to take care of this, the fundamental problems remain: - there are very few voices in ACD caring about real world Ethereum usage - there is nobody doing Ethereum BD (everyone else who is doing this also has their own separate interests)
Ethereum Foundation@ethereumfndn

Today, the Foundation’s Board released the EF Mandate. This document, which was first intended for EF members, reaffirms the promise of Ethereum, and the role of EF within this ecosystem.

@BorisJohnson This is one of the most idiotic things I have read. At no point in your incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone here is now dumber for having read it. as they say in the UK: Allah have mercy on your soul Inshallah

@basche42 It likely stems from trying to send a message to the not laid off people that their jobs are secure and that they shouldnt lose morale or motivation from this.

@richardchen39 The 2025 characterization is a bit overly specific. I think those who can sell to a lot of people outside of CT will be successful. Can sell to pop culture mainstream, and not necessarily to only tradfi and asset managers. Hard agree on the need to adapt to survive.

In each era of crypto there's a different founder archetype of those that succeed. Pre 2020: Purists who came for libertarianism and decentralization. Needed to be ideological enough to not quit early and survive until the 2021 bull market. 2020-2025: Traders who knew how to build financial products that people wanted to speculate on. Understood degens and meme culture. 2025 onwards: Operators who can sell to tradfi institutions and asset managers. Have insights about financial services from working in tradfi or fintech. As the crypto industry changes, some stubbornly dig their heels in and refuse to adapt. Those that learn new skills to reinvent themselves survive.

I’m pleased to step up into the role as the co-ED role at the Ethereum Foundation. My job is to sit in the cuck chair and monitor the situation as banks, fintechs, Tempo, and L2s we said were now sidechains eat our lunch. My job entails hanging up the hammock for philosophical sessions from our dear leader about MMT articles he has read in The Guardian. I look forward to planning Devcon where I am in charge of the frog hats and performances art.

@newmichwill @safetyth1rd A lot of non-devs are becoming devs because of AI though. It’s literally the best teacher.

For me as a dev, it surprisingly writes good and clean code. It is not very smart in a sense that code is often wrong, so it has to be guided: then you can get excellent code faster than without AI. Bad news though: I don’t think a non-dev will be able to write safe code using AI!

I have a friend who is a professional developer who finds ai useful but thinks its overblown / writes bad code Whereas for me, AI lets me develop stuff I wouldn’t dream of without AI Maybe the biggest impact of ai coding isn’t on the developers , but the rest of us.

@Shaughnessy119 On the technical side, theres a huge advantage on Ethereum which is its validator set and uptime which I dont think you are giving enough credit

I think its going to be very hard for allocators to rationalize being long $ETH in 2026 On the institutional side the main driver for ETH was Tom Lee buying billions of ETH and he is now out/low on cash. He is sitting on $7B in unrealized losses and the stock is trading at a discount to NAV so he wont be able to raise or buy more ETH anytime soon if ever. On the technical side Vitalik is calling for scaling the L1 and using L2s for specific use cases (low latency, hyper scaling, etc) but both of these are achieved on faster L1s like Solana who have been accelerating on progress and this focus for years (DoubleZero, Alpenglow, firedancer). Ethereum got me into Crypto in 2017 and I think Vitalik should be massively respected for calling this out and changing course on strategy (not remotely easy, especially from his position - think of the stakeholders, projects and people involed). I also think Ethereum and everything built around it is truly amazing and a democratizing technology thats great for humanity. Regardless though the asset faces an uphill battle. I'm long $SOL

You are one of the dumbest people on earth, my district is literally a majority white district. Your conspiracy theories are laughable and should have no place in a society that cares about facts.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

This has been happening for years. Ilhan Omar is the most obvious example. A large number of relatively recently arrived Somalis will elect only a Somali to Congress in that Minnesota district. This is much more subtle, but just as bad, in many other parts of America.
