@JMoyerFB @CPatrickNFL Perhaps, but sequencing rates is poor and not routinely done at state level. Wouldn’t be surprised if omicron is already driving rate increases in areas that have already been hit hard by delta. Regardless, we’re not out of the woods yet

@BP_ffanalytics @CPatrickNFL It’s an inference based on the prevalence of each strain in the community. Omicron is here and it is spreading and likely will become the more prominent variant at some point, but the vast majority of US cases right now are delta.

The NFL playing this week is dumb. South Africa surge showed that Pfizer 2-step vaccine was only 33% effective at preventing COVID-Omicron infection. Spread isn’t necessarily based on players not following protocols. Omicron is a new beast. Shut it down for boosters.

@JMoyerFB @CPatrickNFL Not sure where you got that information. Rapid and PCR based test can’t discriminate variants. Need to be sequenced to distinguish variants, which I doubt they’re doing.
