Does bip110 solve spam in the slightest? No. Spam is best fought with economic incentives weighed in consensus. #Aggwit minimises the impact of extraneous ledgers and closes the worst-case risks, sending a clear message that parasitic metaprotocols are not a supported use case.

@alfonsoromanz Deciding what Bitcoin is happens in the hearts and minds of people. Nodes are a dumb tool to express that intent. And even then, nodes are unnecessary when enough people choose to run nodes for the broader group who choose to demand those blocks with those rules in that network.

Miners don’t control Bitcoin. Nodes do. Miners propose blocks. Nodes enforce the rules. Every block is verified: scripts, signatures, consensus rules, issuance. Invalid block? Rejected. Hashrate doesn’t override consensus. Running a node is how you decide what Bitcoin is.
