“Bitcoin Developer” almost sounds like an oxymoron to me. We should call them “Bitcoin Security Architects”. IMO the less developers we have in Bitcoin, the better. It means much less iatrogenic changes, and a harder, more secure and trusted protocol.

As a card carrying member of the internal "some of the industry's strongest critics of BIP-110 work[ing] at OCEAN" group mentioned in Ian's post... ... I'll probably try to just continue to mostly stay out of it publicly. That said, after significant thought, I've decided that tomorrow (later today) I'm going to try and make some time to do a brief post about some gripes I have on this topic, mostly to address some of the downright misleading information that's been spread by some proponents of BIP-110 in the context of mining and the risks involved. IMO, a bit of a reality check is long overdue. As the creator of DATUM, the tool being used by virtually all known miners on the BIP-110 side, I feel I have a duty to do my best to make sure miners are properly informed... and that duty trumps any of my previous hesitation in publicly diving into this particular arena. I've tried a bit privately, but I think the scope is wide enough that it's necessary to take it a bit further.
