Promoting the hijab means becoming complicit in discrimination.
FIFA’s statutes claim to oppose all forms of discrimination, whether based on race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Yet when it comes to women, gender discrimination is not only tolerated—it is celebrated and promoted in the name of culture.
A seven-year-old girl whose parents have imposed the hijab on her—a tool used to control and suppress women—deserves our compassion, not to be displayed as a symbol to celebrate.
I know this from personal experience. When I was seven years old, Khomeini’s regime forced me to wear the hijab. Millions of Iranian women and I have lived with the humiliation of being told that we must cover ourselves so that men can feel comfortable. We reject that oppression—at the risk of our lives.
Your indifference to the suffering of millions of girls forced into the hijab reflects an indifference to the gender discrimination and gender apartheid imposed by the islamic ideology behind this symbolic garment—an ideology of control, inequality, and oppression.
Nothing destroys universal human rights more than cultural relativism. She is only a seven-year-old girl.
Let her live.

The Islamic Republic’s criminal regime has executed Erfan Esfandiyari, an 18-year-old hero of Iran’s National Revolution, along with Gol Mohammad Mohammadi, a 23-year-old Afghan national.
His execution followed proceedings that failed to meet even the most basic standards of due process and a fair trial. It was carried out despite earlier warnings that detainees in this case faced an imminent risk of execution.
The Islamic Republic continues to use the death penalty as an instrument of political repression, intimidation, and collective fear. Direct responsibility for this state killing rests with the regime’s leadership, judiciary, and every official involved in his arrest, prosecution, sentencing, and execution.
The Office of Prince Reza Pahlavi extends its deepest sympathies to Erfan Esfandiyari’s family and loved ones. We call on Iranians inside and outside the country to be the voice of Erfan and of all prisoners who remain at risk of execution, and to ensure that their names and circumstances are not buried in silence.
We also urge democratic governments, international institutions, and human rights organizations to take immediate and effective action to prevent further executions and to increase pressure on the Islamic Republic.
Those who ordered, facilitated, and carried out this killing must understand that these crimes will neither be forgotten nor ignored. In a free Iran, all those responsible will be held accountable before an independent court, under the rule of law, with full respect for due process and the right to a fair defence.

بنا بر روایت مادر جاویدنام سودا اکرمیفرد، مراسم یادبود و تولد سر مزار او که عصر روز شنبه ۲۷ تیرماه برگزار شد، با حضور گسترده نیروهای امنیتی و اطلاعاتی برهم خورد و شماری از حاضران بازداشت شدند. به گفته او، این مراسم پس از انتشار استوریهایی درباره سالروز تولد #سودا_اکرمیفرد در شبکههای اجتماعی برگزار شده بود، اما نیروهای امنیتی این فراخوان را اقدامی اعتراضی تلقی کردهاند. این مادر دادخواه میگوید مأموران وابسته به نهادهای امنیتی، از جمله نیروهای اطلاعاتی، به محل مراسم یورش برده و دهها نفر از حاضران، از جمله دو خواهر او، دوستان سودا و تعدادی از افرادی را که با پوشیدن لباسهای سفید و تصاویر سودا در مراسم حضور داشتند، بازداشت کردند. او همچنین اعلام کرده است که یکی از حاضران به نام بابک پس از خواندن نام جاویدنامان در مراسم، به شدت مورد ضربوشتم قرار گرفته و سپس بازداشت شده است. به گفته این مادر دادخواه، تاکنون خانوادهها از وضعیت و محل نگهداری بسیاری از بازداشتشدگان اطلاعی ندارند. مادر سودا اکرمیفرد در این روایت تأکید میکند که هدف از این گردهمایی، گرامیداشت یاد و سالروز تولد فرزندش بوده و بازداشت گسترده حاضران را اقدامی غیرقابل توجیه میداند. او از رسانهها و نهادهای حقوق بشری خواسته است با اطلاعرسانی درباره این رخداد، برای روشن شدن وضعیت بازداشتشدگان و آزادی آنان پیگیری کنند.
