@NeckPinch @andrewschulz I obviously don’t have the time or commitment you do to keeping track of the general reviews of SB halftime shows from years past, so I just did a simple, actually objective, Google search. Where are you getting your information so I can fact check you again?

I’d be willing to bet good money that this year’s SB halftime performance doesn’t stand up qualitatively or musically to the earlier ones I mentioned, based on the objective standards mentioned. I’ve been to bad/lame concerts by otherwise popular singers and groups, and great shows by much less popular artists. It happens. This was another one. His songs didn’t fit the energy of the event. And, crowd enthusiasm/participation is one very reasonable standard of measure; if the crowd had been enjoying it, you can be damn sure we would’ve been shown how much they were enjoying it. Now, I can’t say whether the “alternative” halftime show was better, because I didn’t watch it. There are those who claim it was better, but they probably didn’t watch Bad Bunny’s performance…so they can’t compare. Go ahead and look up multiple reviews of previous SB halftime shows; Rihanna, Lamar, The Weeknd, Dre et al., etc. And compare them to Bad Bunny. I’ve already seen Hispanic people hating on it, especially the heavy reliance on reggaeton, poor song choice given his catalogue, and so on.

I watched the whole show, and judged it was lame while watching it. I’ve seen people claim that “Bad Bunny turned the Super Bowl into a house party”, but you generally see the people attending a house party having fun…unless the party sucks. Come on, man: The loudest cheers during the halftime show came when it ended. Reggaeton music, all in Spanish (aside from Lady Gaga’s bit), simply wasn’t the right choice for the biggest stage of the year. And Kendrick Lamar’s show last year was also pretty damn lame. Usher’s was better in 2024, but Rihanna’s preggo show the year before that was…odd. Dre, Eminem, Snoop, et al? Phenomenal. Even The Weeknd did a great job. But Bad Bunny sucked. I’m not telling you to agree with me, but it’s pretty obvious you’re being more emotional than rational about it.

Nah. It was objectively lame. I can give Bad Bunny credit for effort in terms of optics, but I didn’t see much footage of the crowd having a good time. Also, the songs were simply not Super Bowl-caliber; the same could be said of Kendrick Lamar’s last year. Snoop Dogg’s Christmas Day NFL halftime show on Netflix was, objectively, much better than Bad Bunny’s show today. Snoop’s “Holiday Halftime Party” had mass appeal, multiple genres, and had the crowd bopping in a way Bad Bunny’s didn’t.
