Nestle just lost 413,793 KitKat bars. Someone stole them off a truck heading from their factory in central Italy to Poland, about 1,300 km away. Roughly $1 million in chocolate. The truck, the bars, all of it, just gone.
A European Parliament study puts cargo theft costs across Europe at €8.2 billion a year. That works out to about €2.5 million worth of goods disappearing from trucks and warehouses every 24 hours.
The industry group TAPA tracked 157,421 cargo thefts across 129 countries between 2022 and 2024. Only 6% of those included how much was actually taken, and that 6% alone added up to €2.7 billion. The real number is way bigger.
Germany gets hit the hardest. DHL's own data shows that a truckload is stolen every 20 minutes there, costing roughly €2.2 billion a year. The fastest-growing method is "phantom carriers," where criminal groups register fake trucking companies with forged documents, show up at warehouses with legit-looking paperwork, load the cargo, and drive off. No weapons, no break-ins. Just forged IDs and a clipboard. The German Insurance Association logged 88 phantom carrier cases in the first seven months of 2025, matching the total for the previous year.
Food is the most-stolen category in Europe, accounting for 10-20% of all cargo thefts. Chocolate is a top target because it doesn't spoil, everyone wants it, and it sells fast on unofficial markets. 20 tonnes of Nutella and Kinder Eggs were stolen in Germany in 2017. A crime ring that moved 287 tonnes of Swiss chocolate worth $8 million over the course of 2014. 20 tonnes of Milka were taken from an Austrian factory in 2019 using forged pickup papers.
Timing makes this one sting. Cocoa went from about $2,400 per ton three years ago to over $12,600 in late 2024. Prices have dropped to around $5,000-$6,000 in early 2026, but that's still double the historical average. In Poland, where these bars were headed, chocolate retail prices jumped 32.6% last year according to EU data. The product is worth stealing right now more than at almost any point in the past decade.
Nestlé says each bar has a scannable code that routes back to the company. Decent tracking. But when €2.5 million in cargo disappears from European supply chains every single day, 413,793 KitKat bars are a rounding error.

Marry someone who has their finances in order. They don’t have to be rich, but they should at least be able to hold things down.
There will be moments when you’re vulnerable, like during pregnancy, when you may have to depend on them financially. That’s not the time to discover they can’t carry the weight. Don’t gamble your life.

Here is the thing: the reason Daniel is not ashamed to share this train wreck of an interview is that he knows that Nigeria does not reward ethics. It does not reward shame. Nigeria is where shame goes to die. Nigeria does not reward morality. The only crime in Nigeria is poverty. And so he works for his supper the only way he knows how. This interview will do nothing to dent his already battered image. Just like Tolu Ogunlesi. Who insulted you over seedless grapes. Just like Reuben Abati during Jonathan. This too shall pass and Nigerians will forget and he will one day win elections in his local government and become a Federal Representative or Senator. Or become a well paid commentator. Daniel as odious as he is, is only a mirror of what Nigeria allows. He will be fine. His children will be fine. And he will never lack friends in and outside government.

In Suratul Kahf Allah told us the story of some orphans whose wealth and inheritance were hidden for them by their father without them knowing about it even.
He sent a whole messenger and a very knowledgeable man of high repute to fix a wall it was buried under simply because their father was a good man. To them, the messenger and scholar were strangers they probably never saw again.
Prophet Yusuf had 11 brothers that all hated him so much so that they threw him in a well despite him being an innocent child.
“Giving them siblings” is not a guaranty that they’ll be all united and happy and loving each other. At the same time not having siblings doesn’t mean they’ll not have people that’ll stand for and by them.
Just strive to be a good person and parent, pray hard and put your trust in Allah.

It’s important to inform your wife if anyone is coming to your house so she can prepare. If they are family or close friends, they can just call her directly and inform her. It’s basic consideration.
As men, we feel like anyone can come at anytime and it’s not a big deal. But for women (most wives anyway), they have to prepare for the visitation, physically and mentally.
Because those visitors will analyze and pass judgement when you’re not there. Whether you believe it or not, they do. That judgment of the state of the home, how warm your family is, how organized you are etc falls on the woman. Because everyone believes women take care of the home. Don’t stress it if you can’t understand. Just think about what you feel when you visit someone and the house is disorganized.
Many people would misconstrue this as taking permission. But, you’re not taking permission from her (not like she would say they shouldn’t come), you’re just keeping her in the loop. That’s simple courtesy above all. She is a partner in the house. To inform your partner of a visitation to your home ahead of time is simple courtesy. Shows you respect her.
You can get away with not offering people food or drinks, a woman may not in this highly judgmental society. She’ll clean, think about what they may want to eat, organize the house etc.

Another every popular scam method is “sperm donation”
Someone will post that they’re looking for sperm donor and willing to pay 2.5M.
Then you’ll DM that you’re interested and they’ll say before they connect you, you should go and do medicals at a good hospital, then they’ll recommend the hospital or clinic to you.
You go there and pay like 50k to do medicals or so. But thats the end.
What happens behind the scene:
100 struggling guys who want to make 2.5m will jump on the deal.
They’ll spend their last 50k to quickly for and do the medicals.
Hospital cash out 5M naira and give the influencer 20% commission.
