Mike McCaul (R) sits on some of the most powerful committees in congress Yesterday, he published ~$12.5M of new stock trades After reviewing them, we found numerous examples of him trading stocks that "raise conflicts of interest" flags Here's what we found First, out of the $12.5M in trades, $6,705,000 were buys and $5,795,000 were sells 1) McCaul sits as the Chairman on the Homeland Security Committee He bought millions in companies like United Health $UNH (one of the largest US health insurance companies) or Bayer $BAYRY (specializes addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges in health and agriculture). It may come off as a conflict of interest 2) He also co-chairs the House AI Caucus: So when he's buying $500K of Intel $INTC, $200K of Dynatrace $DT, and selling $50K of Nvidia $NVDA That could appear as a conflict of interest 3) Or it's him being the co-chair on the "House High Tech Caucus" and buying $1.2M of Apple $AAPL and $100K of Google $GOOGL, I could see why some see that as a conflict of interest 4) or it's that he sits on a lot more committees including as the Chairman of Foreign Affairs, the co-chair of the cybersecurity caucus, and the co-chair of the internet caucus and trades millions in Vishay Intertechnology $VSH, NovoNortis $NVO, Goldman $GS, Wells Fargo $WFC, Humana $HUM, and many many more It makes sense why people raise red flags Now to be fair, the trades are all filed in his wife & child's name (though it looks like none of his children are over 18) so this may be a trust of some sort but the point remains The optics of Politicians trading is wrong and should be stopped. I've continued to shed light on this via the Pelosi Tracker & co founded an app that let's people copy their trades, but more still needs to be done.
