Why did Fana Television remove Teddy Afro’s photo from Fana Lamrot? Teddy Afro is not just an artist. he is a national icon whose music has shaped generations. Removing his photo is a disgraceful act of disrespect to Ethiopian music, its history, and millions of fans. You cannot claim to support Ethiopian artists while erasing one of the greatest among them. We strongly condemn this shameful decision.

10 days without my father. Yusuf Yassin was taken from our home. We believe it may be connected to his lifelong friendship with Teddy Afro. The accusations are not true. We are not even allowed to see him. Let's bring him home. Share vt.tiktok.com/ZS9HuMCd4/

Wake up, residents of Addis Ababa. The continued detention of Mahlet Solomon, Teddy Afro’s longtime spokesperson, and others raises urgent questions about justice, due process, and political pressure in Ethiopia. While authorities claim Teddy Afro himself is not under investigation, the arrest of those closest to him is fueling serious public concern. Ethiopians must pay attention when legal systems are used in ways that appear to silence, intimidate, or pressure influential voices. This is bigger than one individual .It is about civil rights, fairness, and the future of justice in our country.

According to the Addis Ababa law enforcement report, if everything was truly “false information” and Teddy Afro was peacefully at home, then why were Mahlet Solomon, Yusuf Yasin, and even DJs reportedly targeted, arrested, or pressured? You cannot claim there was no suppression while people around him were being intimidated simply for their association, music, or support. Actions speak louder than official statements. Arresting individuals connected to an artist while dismissing public concern raises even bigger questions. This is unacceptable. Freedom of expression should not come with fear, intimidation, or selective enforcement. We will call on the international community to pay close attention and get involved in addressing these serious concerns. @TiborPNagyJr @amnesty @hrw @UNHumanRights @BBCWorld @cnni @UN @StateDept @EU_Commission @AJEnglish @Reuters @SkyNews @France24_en @AP @dwnews @jeffpropulsion

The arrest of Mahlet Solomon shows the reality many are trying to ignore. When art, music, and even listening become reasons for arrest, it speaks volumes about the situation in Ethiopia. The response to Teddy Afro’s music is not just entertainment it’s a voice of the people, a signal that the demand for freedom is real and growing. To those in the diaspora: we can do more. Real impact requires strategy, consistency, and courage not just reposts. We have to amplify authentic Ethiopian voices, challenge misinformation, and push for accurate representation of our stories. Awareness alone is not enough. Action, creativity, and persistence matter. Thank you Jeff Pearce for speaking up and reacting.

🚨 URGENT: Escalating Crackdown Linked to Teddy Afro 🚨 Serious and deeply troubling reports are emerging from Ethiopia involving individuals closely associated with internationally recognized artist Teddy Afro. According to multiple accounts, a close associate has reportedly been arrested, while his deputy manager has also been taken into custody. In addition, security forces allegedly attempted a late night operation at his residence in an effort to detain another associate, DJ Wish, reportedly arriving without a warrant and leaving only after being denied entry. In a further alarming development, the “Abugida” music studio in the CMC area has reportedly been forcibly broken into, with equipment and property allegedly seized. Taken together, these incidents do not appear isolated. Rather, they suggest a troubling pattern of intimidation and targeting of individuals connected to a prominent cultural figure. These reports raise serious concerns about potential abuse of power, lack of due process, and threats to artistic freedom and freedom of expression. At a time like this, transparency and accountability are critical. The international community, human rights organizations, and media outlets are urged to closely monitor the situation and seek verified information. Respect for fundamental rights including freedom of expression and protection from unlawful detention must remain non negotiable. Silence in the face of such actions risks enabling further escalation. @TiborPNagyJr @amnesty @hrw @UNHumanRights @BBCWorld @cnni @UN @StateDept @EU_Commission @AJEnglish @Reuters @SkyNews @France24_en @AP @dwnews

🚨 URGENT: Growing concerns in Ethiopia around Teddy Afro Reports indicate a troubling pattern targeting people close to the artist: arrests of associates, a late-night attempt to detain another individual without clear warrant, and now an alleged forced break in and seizure of equipment at the Abugida music studio in the CMC area. The international community is called upon to closely follow a concerning situation unfolding in Ethiopia. Reports indicate that, following remarks by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed directed at artist Teddy Afro, two individuals closely associated with the artist his deputy manager and a longtime associate have been detained by authorities. No official statement has clarified the reasons for these actions. This development raises important questions about transparency, accountability, and the protection of civil liberties. Artists such as Teddy Afro are widely recognized as influential cultural voices who reflect public sentiment and contribute to national dialogue. Former U.S. diplomat Tibor Nagy has highlighted the important role artists play in expressing societal realities and engaging public discourse. Actions taken without clear explanation or due process risk undermining trust in institutions and weakening democratic principles. @TiborPNagyJr @amnesty @hrw @UNHumanRights @BBCWorld @cnni @UN @StateDept @EU_Commission @AJEnglish @Reuters @SkyNews @France24_en @AP @dwnews

The international community must urgently turn its attention to recent developments in Ethiopia involving renowned artist Teddy Afro. Following public remarks by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed directed at the artist, reports have emerged that two of his close associates his deputy manager and a longtime friend have been detained by authorities. At the time of writing, no official explanation has been provided. This situation raises serious concerns about freedom of expression, due process, and the broader environment for artists and public figures. Cultural figures like Teddy Afro often reflect the concerns and aspirations of society, giving voice to widely shared experiences. As emphasized by former U.S. diplomat Tibor Nagy, artists can serve as a voice for the people, expressing realities that resonate deeply within the public. When individuals closely associated with such voices are detained without transparency, it risks creating a climate of fear and undermining confidence in fundamental freedoms. The international community including governments, human rights organizations, and global institutions is urged to seek clarity from Ethiopian authorities, call for transparency, and ensure that due process and freedom of expression are fully respected. @TiborPNagyJr @amnesty @hrw @UNHumanRights @BBCWorld @cnni @UN @StateDept @EU_Commission @AJEnglish @Reuters @SkyNews @France24_en @AP @dwnews
