Eight teams have secured their spots in the upcoming regional block competitions of the 2025 IGP Cup. The much anticipated round is earmarked to take place later this year.
The regional block competitions are expected to kick off in early July 2025, with one team from each region advancing to the quarterfinals.
The confirmed teams from different regions are; Kween Police (Sipi Region), Jinja Road Police (Kampala Metropolitan East), Tororo District (Bukedi South), Mpigi (Katonga Region) and Luweero (Savannah Region).
Others are Jinja City Police (Kiira Region), Mbale City (Elgon Region), and Mubende CPS (Wamala Region)

2. ASP Chesang Stella - 42KM event
3. Inspector of Police (IP) Peruth Chemutai - 3,000m Steeplechase event and defending champion of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics games
4. IP Chelanganti Mercyline - 42KM event
5. Police Constable (PC) Kiptrotich Martin Magengo - 10,000m event
6. PC Kiplangat Victor - 42KM event

In IGP's message read on his behalf by the Director Research, planning and Development AIGP James Ocaya, at the High level Reflection meeting on crime trends noted that
"This year the Annual crime report was released earlier than the

. @vicent_twesige The Territorial Police in Kamwenge is conducting an investigation into an attack by unknown assailants that happened at 02:00 hrs on the early morning of December 19, 2023, in Kyitehurizi village, Kyabandara parish, Kamwenge sub-county, Kamwenge District, resulting in the loss of ten lives.
The deceased persons include Banyazaki Margaret, aged 60, another identified only as Tugume, a 25-year-old, and eight others yet to be identified.
Preliminary findings reveal that ten assailants, armed with SMG rifles, attacked and fatally burnt ten people in Kyitehurizi trading center, Kyabandara parish, Kamwenge sub-county, loccated near Kibale National Park.
After the incident, the assailants proceeded to break into the store of Baguma Richard, 35 years old, and looted 300 kgs of beans, a sack of Irish potatoes, 03 trays of eggs, and 50 kgs of maize.
They also set ablaze a motorcycle Reg No. UFC 851T.
After the incident, the assailants headed towards Kibale National Park. Upon receiving the information, our officers responded to the scene immediately, deploying canine units alongside UPDF Personnel.
A manhunt led by Joint Security Agencies is currently underway, and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
