The couple had been helping injured protesters seek medical care, avoiding state-run hospitals out of fear of arrest. Days later, their home was targeted. Following his release from detention, Ahmad have faced ongoing harassment and intimidation. The sustained psychological pressure have driven him to attempt to take his own life. His current condition remains unclear. This is what a brutal regime does when it fears its own people. Salehe and Ahmad were a young couple in love, their lives filled with hope, their days filled with purpose. They were saving the lives the wounded. And for that, she was shot in her home. Many international media outlets have relied on his reporting. Now he is receiving serious threats. He has been warned that he could be kidnapped just like Ruhollah Zam. When the Islamic Republic uses that name, everyone knows what it means: abduction, torture, and execution. I know these threats are not empty. Before armed agents sent by the regime were arrested outside my home in New York by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, I received hundreds of messages saying the same thing: “We will put you in a sack like Ruhollah Zam, take you back to Iran, and kill you.” Those threats were real. The regime had already sent killers to American soil. That is why I will always be grateful to the FBI agents who saved my life. Today I hope U.S. authorities take the threats against Vahid just as seriously. In recent days, several Iranian journalists and political activists have received similar warnings. از اینکه باید از مواضع ضد جنگ و ضدپهلویم دفاع کنم خسته شدم. دقت کنیدا! نمیخوام ملت رو قانع کنم، بقیه میخوان‌ بحث و حمله کنن و منو قانع کنن. حس میکنم برگشتم به بیست سال پیش خونه مامان بابام که میخواستن به زور و منطق حجاب رو توجیه کنن و نمیتونستم از خودم دفاع کنم.
