Workflows can be sped up, but like you said, process matters. People are taking a machine's judgement over the actual pros.

Honestly, the media are following their incentives, so I can't blame them. But it's up to us citizens, including those they are asking questions of, to point out their double-standards and hopefully shame them into being better journalists that are actually trying to seek truth, not buzz at the expense of truth.
