After graduating from Stanford, O'Connor had 40 rejections from law firms that wouldn't even interview her because she was a woman. She became our first woman Supreme Court Justice, and she left a major, positive mark. Thank you, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Rest In Peace.

My kids are the age of those who stormed the beaches. They are free people. Free to vote in fair and free elections. Free to be students who can work hard to pursue their dreams. Free to speak, think, worship as they wish. Blessed to live in this great country. I am grateful.

For almost 250 years, others have given their one life in this world for our country. Feeling grateful for them and their families this Memorial Day, and endeavoring to live and serve in a way that is worthy of their sacrifice.

I love this photo. Washington gave up unlimited, unchallenged power. He could’ve been a king but decided to let the new country be about itself and not just about him. One of the most exceptional events for freedom in human history. Worth remembering this Presidents’ Day.

Mom never made me the “thank you note” writer she wanted me to be. But 7 years ago then Assemblywoman @Baker4Assembly sent me a congratulations note on the birth of my son. I’ve never forgotten how much that meant to me and I now send hand written notes whenever I can.

If you vote in person on or before Election Day, bring your absentee ballot to surrender. (And make sure they tear it.) Otherwise you’ll have to cast a provisional ballot. Still gets counted.
